Stockport 1, Wycombe 0. Stockport win 2-1 on agg
LIAM'S FIXED IT FOR JIM
LIAM DICKINSON booked Stockport's ticket to Wembley after firing his 20th goal of the season.
The striker put Jim Gannon's men into dreamland with a superb seventh-minute solo goal in front of a packed Edgeley Park crowd.
Dickinson raced clear from inside his own half, holding off defender Mike Williamson, before neatly tucking the ball past Frank Fielding.
But from then on it was Wycombe who dragged themselves back into the game.
Williamson saw a header bounce out off the top of the bar before 26-goal Scott McGleish saw a powerful shot blocked by Gareth Owen.
Wycombe midfield ace Tommy Doherty saw a fiercely-hit low drive well saved by home keeper Conrad Logan.
McGleish nodded just wide from a Sergio Torres cross as Wycombe continued to press after the break.
Superb
But Dickinson nearly added a second down the other end — but Fielding made a superb save.
The match opened up into an end-to-end clash and Logan did well to beat away a Gary Holt header. Wycombe upped another gear as the chased an equaliser.
And striker Delroy Facey lashed a shot over from 16 yards when clear on goal following a promising build-up from Torres and Holt.
On-loan Gillingham ace Facey then headed over from a corner with time running out.
Substitute Leon Knight then wasted a golden chance to grab a last-minute leveller but shot over the bar from six yards.
Eight players of 23 or under? This is how it used to be. Well done Stockport.
