Brighton 0, Swansea 1
BRANDY SNAP
SWANS finally picked up the League One trophy — and sub Febian Brandy made sure they also picked up three points.
The on-loan Manchester United striker netted his 77th-minute winner four minutes after leaving the bench.
Alex Ferguson's starlet, 19, fired in from close range past outstanding keeper Michel Kuipers after Shaun MacDonald had set him up from Matt Richards' error.
And to make it a perfect afternoon, Roberto Martinez's men were awarded the League One trophy after notching their 14th away win of the season.
Swansea claimed the title a fortnight ago but the Football League refused to hand over the crown because Leeds were appealing against their 15-point deduction.
But the trophy was sent to Withdean after the Yorkshire club's appeal was thrown out.
And Martinez's heroes paraded the prize in front of 900 jubilant travelling fans after the final whistle.
Martinez said: "Today was all about celebrating our season.
"It would have been fantastic to have got the trophy last week in front of our own fans at the Liberty Stadium.
"That didn't happen so we've just got to celebrate with the fans who are here.
"What happened with Leeds was unfortunate. I've not seen anything like it before and I don't think we'll see anything like it again.
"To finish with a win wraps up a terrific season for us.
"The boys can be proud of what they've achieved."
Swansea were quick out of the blocks and Jason Scotland should have netted his 30th goal after six minutes.
The Trinidad and Tobago striker raced clear but pulled his shot wide.
Fouled
Then Kuipers produced the first of several fine saves to deny Tom Butler.
Brighton had a goal disallowed after Dean Cox was harshly ruled to have fouled Dennis Lawrence before picking out the Brighton striker.
Paul Anderson had an effort cleared off the line by Joel Lynch after Kuipers had blocked the winger's first effort.
Kuipers again denied Anderson and then tipped away Scotland's downward header following Angel Rangel's cross.
But 13 minutes from time Kuipers was beaten by Brandy, who showed just why Martinez wants to extend his loan stay at the club.
