New Spurs ace scared by Eduardo horror tackle
MODRIC INJURY TERROR
By AIDAN MAGEE
LUKA MODRIC admits the horror injury suffered by compatriot Eduardo made him think long and hard about coming to the Premier League.
The slightly-built Croat- ian played for Dinamo Zagreb on the day the Arsenal striker sustained a sickening compound fracture at Birmingham.
Modric had celebrated reaching Euro 2008 with his pal weeks earlier and says seeing the incident on TV affected him and his Dinamo team-mates so much they lost the match.
The pair grew up together in the Balkans and Modric, 22, insists the injury haunted him. But he later joined Tottenham in a £16.5m deal and is now fixed on becoming a Spurs playmaker in the tradition of Glenn Hoddle and Paul Gascoigne.
He said: “Seeing this catastrophe unfold got me down. Dinamo had a match later in the afternoon and it was very difficult for everyone to concentrate.
“You think about things like that. But if I worried about it too much I’d be afraid to go on the pitch.
“I know Eduardo very well and I am sure we will have time to socialise together off the field, even though he plays for our biggest rivals.”
It is soon time that the person who makes such an injury by a bad tackle will be off the game the same amount of time as his victim
