United boss fury over Berbatov tap-up storm
FERGIE: I'LL SUE SPURS
From DAVID HARRISON in Cape Town
MANCHESTER UNITED are threatening legal action against Tottenham over the Dimitar Berbatov tap-up storm.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is livid Spurs chairman Daniel Levy accused him of arrogance and hypocrisy in making an alleged illegal approach for the Bulgarian.
The Premier League champions will ignore Levy’s attack and remain confident of getting Berbatov with an improved £25million bid.

But Levy’s threat to report United for making an illegal approach threatens to end up in court.
Fergie said: “It is going to look embarrassing for Tottenham. They based their complaint on a newspaper story and I don’t know where those comments came from. They certainly didn’t come from me.
“But you know what Daniel Levy is like. He is different.
“I have not read the full article but I have been given the gist of it by our Press officer. I am sure our legal people will be looking at it.”
Yeah, Fergie caught at his own game. He doesn't like it much does he? CHEAT.

Daniel Levy has a cheek to talk about anyones morales. Wasn't it less than a season ago he was having secret liasons with Juande Ramos while all the time telling poor Martin Jol his job was secure? If he wants to know what a hypocrite is, he need look no further than the nearest mirror!

Anyway even if Fergie did tap up Berbatov , it's nothing wrong (as according to Mr Blatter). Mr Blatter said it was alright for Real Madrid to do it with Ronaldo so Fergie couldn't have done anything wrong either.

what everyone seems to forget is is it worth arguing about it seems like what 2 7yr olds would do in the play ground when picking teams at break time GROW UP we are all struggling to make ends meet and these two are arguing about he said this because he said that, pathetic

Nothing wrong with it?
Dont be daft.
The Cashley Cole tap up was the worst - but after Fergie lost it With Real/Ronaldo (and got no where with septic Bladder as he thinks a contract is slavery - dipstick) - he should be accused and dragged throught the PL or the FA under the same charges.
I believe 3 pts (suspended) AND £150,000 was the going rate - anmd Fergie will look an absolute idoit.

It might seem insignificant to Levy, but Ferguson had made an offer for Berbatov before the press reports. That is called a legal approach.
Real Madrid didn't make any offer for Ronaldoh!

I think levy will look the idiot when the truth comes out. We know tottenham need a head start but even if the league deduct 10 points tottenham with still only win the mickey mouse cup if extremely lucky.

Football has long been farcical and I don't understand how anybody can be surprised by this - I can't even believe that it's a story worth reporting. As everybody knows, football clubs have long been a law unto themselves and the same applies to the players and their agents. Football fans (and until very recently I was one) have become gullible, mindless sheep following the herd and throwing their money away on institutions that care not one jot about them or their loyalty.
Sorry folks, but it's a mug's game so why waste energy thinking about egotistical morons like Ferguson and Levy?

what people forget is Manchester united made and official bid no false newspaper stories and it was only after an official bid was made anything came out in the papers so spurs should shut up because they are going to come out the same as they always do in these things clowns

unless there are stricter rules put in place unfortunately there are always going to be these petty arguements about clubs and players, as much as I laugh at Fergie claiming to be innocent He has always thought there are one rule for himself and another rule for others it is not just on players but every season you see fergie throwing his toys out of his pram when games don't go to his liking but spurs are just throwing stones at glass houses only not to recent have spurs not robbed crystal palace of John Bostock, did they not upset seville by "tapping up" Ramos spurs may not want to lose Berbatov and Keane but spurs have to realise that just like every other club in the land 95% of their players will jump ship at any sign of earning a few bob more than they are already earning and spurs just like any other club take advantage of this and use this to their advantage whenever their is a player they would like to sign, its the players weakness or greediness which ever way you look at it that a paper can say such and such are interested in signing so and so all of a sudden that player goes from Mr club man to the disillusioned soul where nobody likes or understands, every club just uses the media to start the unrest to get their man and tottenham are no exception to this

same old double standards with spurs ,its perfectly acceptable to blantanly tap up ramos yet its simply unnacceptable for united to allegedly do the same with berbatov.
united have not even spoken to the player directly, regardless of whether fergies comments was accurately quoted it contained nothing illegal in my eyes.

As a spurs fan, I'm glad this argument has started as there's no way Levy will sell Berbie to Man U now.

dont count on it chris.
united nearly always gets their main targets eventually,it proved so with rooney, chelsea eventually proved it with ashley cole.
sorry but when bigger clubs come calling the smaller clubs sell, your club isnt so sweet and innocent.

Daniel Levy said he has got evidence that the mancs have made an illegal approach to the player and his agent between last summer and now.I am pretty sure there is evidence of this and hopefully the PL will stand up and put United where they belong.

berbatov will come to manu as he wants to play for a big team, rich team, best team in the world & wants to win big things not like tottenham & all the rest of premership teams which all are years away from being a big club like manu. and poeple need to get it right fergie never said no ones name when he told the press who he had bid for so sorry spurs fans you will be in the 4 horse race like you all said last year but at the bottom (ha,ha) manu for the treble again :-)

Man United have had a history of tapping up players NOTW today Hargreaves,Stam,Bellion,Vieira,Robben,Ronaldinho. Also iv re-watched a fergie interview on tv from friday when he said "We have made Tottenham an offer on Berbatov and we have good expectations that this deal will go through," the Scot said as he jetted out with his players ahead of United's pre-season tour of South Africa.

Fergie? kettle, pot and black spring to mind. Football is full of hypocrites and will never change.
The best laugh ever with Man U is the Ronaldo v Real Madrid saga ....Fergie says he is staying for another year(s)mmm lets see...money talks...... and Utd need Berbatov as Fergie has come out in public about bringing him to Man U maybe the Ronaldo fee was being used?
If Berbatov goes elsewhere Fergie will end up with egg on his face........

I think Levy is referring to contact between agents of united + berba when he mentions "we now have evidence that both clubs have systematically been working to prise the players away from us, outside of PL rules of conduct". I suspect his proof is not a newspaper clipping. For Berba, he'll still go but for an extra £5m, as the price went up for arnesen once the complaint went in over chelsea, and the story disappeared. Keane i think will have to stay as he will accept this.
