Pay rebel Adebayor demands more cash
GIVE ME £100,000 A WEEK
EXCLUSIVE by DAVID BARNES
PAY rebel Emmanuel Adebayor returns to Arsenal tomorrow with the offer: Give me 100 grand a week and I will stay.
Adebayor will resume training, although his financial battle with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is still unresolved.
But, for the first time, he is ready to negotiate and his first step will be to reduce his demands by £20,000 a week.
Confident
A source close to his camp said: “Emmanuel will tell the club he now wants £100,000 a week to stay with them. He considers that is fair reward for what he is doing for Arsenal.
“The problem is that Arsenal offered him a rise to £70,000 a week some time ago and they’ve never changed their position.”
Wenger said yesterday: “Adebayor is under contract with the club and I expect he will be with us, practising on Monday.
“I am confident he will be here next season.”
Adebayor, 24, originally called for £120,000 a week — four times what he is on now — with the threat of leaving for AC Milan and Barcelona, who have both shown marked interest in him.
l think ha lost all his chips in one go the clubs he thought would stick out for him have left him in the cold. why would he earn that much my god can you imagine what he would ask for if he made to 40 goals a season?

Until Adebayor emulates the great T14 (Henry) then he should be paid similar wages like the rest of the first team squad, backing into his demands would mean opening the floodgates for other Arsenal stars to do the same, not to mention the dressing room unrest. Sadly Adebayor winning only the 'bbc goal of the year' isnt enough. We should sell you for your Ronaldo'esque antics.

Let him go and end up being an almost 'nothing'. This is the guy who celebrates for 90 minutes if he scores one goal! I wonder what his demands would be if he did not miss open chances 50% of the time! Every one should be paid fair wages, but he is demanding the bank!

Arsenal need to wake up to reality, Adebayo has sublime skills and Wenger knew his potential before going in for him as he has done on several other occasions. If the board which David Dein has consistently suggested to allow someone with real money to come in and provide the much needed funds< Arsenal will never be in a position to compete with the bigger boys, it's no point acting like big time Charlies when in actual fact you are all tight so and so's. And as for Wenger, it is time that he realises that none of these players are kids and expect to be treated as adults that they are.

if you score the goals you will be rewarded
but to do this you have to be 22
and good there are about 4 players
in the world to day who fit that
not to say there names

We must sell him now, if his demands r true & he thinks he's a superstar he should remember the games where he hid like a little child.lets hope the fan will back him as the ones l've spoken too r not happy.Just score goals & make a name for yourself b4 asking for big money

As an Arsenal season ticket holder for many years I am outraged by the supposed demands of Adebayor, any half decent striker would have scored 30 goals last season in that Arsenal side. He missed more than what he scored and i blame him and him alone for us not winning the Title last year.
I say let him go rather than break the pay structure. He will be a trouble maker in the dressing room if he doesn't get his own way and we do't need that. GET RID OF HIM NOW.

adebayor not done enuff to warrant such wage demands, has not yet proven consistency, one good season is not enuff in my book. look at anelka he left gunners too early and his career has never hit full potential as a result. ade needs to emulate last seasons goals tally at least another season to prove himself special player. at the moment he is good but so is every player on arsenal books. fabregas, toure and gallas are only players who should be in top wage bracket the first two have proven themselves at arsenal and gallas record speak for itself

His history with his own national team shows what sort of character he is. I doubt this will be resolved in a good manner. He's a great player that causes lot's of problems for defenders but 70k a week is about right for him. If he scores another 30 AND Arsenal actually win something then give him a further payrise. If he doesn't like it, flog him. You'll have the backing of Arsenal fans all over the world.

adebayor cannot compare with thierry henry..henry produced the goals year after year.adebayor had shown nothing prior to last season..also its not just that he misses chances..thierry could create goals out of nothing.I dont think adebayor can do that.

At least Ashley Cole & Nicolas Anelka actually helped us to win things.
I couldn't believe our luck when i heard Barca & Milan wanted Adebayor.
We need a striker with a better conversion rate & better vision & decision making.
Adebayor's flaws in each of those areas all but cost us the premiership last season i.e @ Newcastle, Man U , Wigan & Birmingham.
Not to mention his anonymity in our league match @ Anfield.
Hat- tricks against the likes of Derby & Fulham (no disrespect)do not make you the second coming of Thierry Henry.

I don’t believe this guy !!! was it only a couple of weeks ago that him and his agent stated that it was not about money !!!. He came from Togo and he had never had any money as a kid so his issues with Arsenal were not about money?. I just hope this guy if he stay’s gets to find out at the first game of the season how unhappy we gooners feel about his attitude to us the supporters and the club. To me if you don’t want to toe the line Ade do one, but then again where are you going to no-one wants you that’s why you are coming back tomorrow demanding £100,000 a week !!!

Adebayor is going to have to eat a big slice of humble pie at the start of this season,Barca and Milan's interest in him have cooled. He's made a big fuss after believeing his own hype and shown everyone what a mercenery he is.
Adebayor, you're not as good as you think, you're bottle went the last half of the season.

I personally am disgusted with this on going Adebayor saga. He comes from the slams of Togo, and now money becomes his priority. If I was Wenger, I would let him go and use the money to get a tested and proven goal scorer like Roque Santa Cruz who will ruthlessly punish the opposition. Adebayor is only a top scorer because he gets a million chances before taking one . Let Him Go!!!!

IS BETTER FOR ADEBAYO TO GO HIS WAY TO ANY CLUB WHO ARE READY TO PAY ADEBAYO ABOVE THEIR INCOME THAN ADEBAYO TO PLANT A TREE THAT WILL FIGHT AGAINST ARSENAL BRIGHT FUTURE. THE TRUTH IS THAT, THE 50% CHANCESE HE LOST LAST SEASEN COST ARSENAL THE TROPHYLESS SEASON.
ADEBAYO, EITHER YOU TAKE £70,000 A WEEK OR YOU FIND YOUR NEAREST EXIT DOOR.

Wenger is the most obdurate person on earth this stupid player will bring a lot of problem to his team , Arsenal must sell him and try to bring santa cru or huntelaar , if we will accept to give him 100000 then van persie who is wanted by juventus will ask from wenger to increase his wages!! and that will make more problem so sell this stupid now

If i were you Ade,i would have be ashamed of my self. How dare you! It's a pitty i'am hearing this,do you think your workrate at Arsenal is better than that of Fabregas,Clichy,Sagna,Kolo, etc who you now want even to earn more than they do?.
I think you've poorly used your praise,it din't mean that your the best,to me even £70000 aweek is still beyond your worth.Anywhere my fellow African i advise you to talk nice to Wenger to allow you to pack up and leave.
Wenger please i also myself ask you to let him go many good strikers are knocking on the door and even cheaper than what he's offered for.Let him go,his welcome won't last for long there and he will soon come back and join Leeds untd.

it really is amazing to see how these guys are made into stars by Arsene's astute direction and their team-mates support and when they leave reality kicks in and they look quite ordinary- The exception was Ashley Cole but even his leaving meant others could shine such as Clichy. I agree with the general sentiment - let him go, buy a replacement and pocket the chamge.

first i agree with most of the abouve comments, and i hate too much to Ade because he is simply thinking only about big money but not thinking who helped him to acheive some good name. And at the end what i want to say to wenger is let him buy 2 experienced players (defender and mid-fild defender) to srengthen the squad then see best of his squad untill january and then sell those are seemed unnecessary.

I am appalled by the way Ade is carrying on. The fact that most of us(fans) did not show our resentment towards him after his performance last season, does not mean that we thought he played well. Since his signing i thought lets give him time to gel, but he has proven my sentiments correct - useless!. When watching matches i cannot believe the amount of chances he misses right in front of goal which of course Henry would have most def made the most of. judging from his arrogance and his stupid demands, I have been waiting for someone to make an offer for him and its happened and i say LET HIM GO!, the team will do better of without him!Not happy for him to stay! It all about quality not quantity!

Arsenal can forget about fulfilling Adebayor's demand even if Wenger is willing to break his rigid wage structure. Adebayor is not worth the pay rise he is demanding.
It would be more worthwhile for Wenger to keep Hleb rather than Adebayor. Without Adebayor, Arsenal can still rely on Van Persie, Eduardo, Bendtner, Wilcott, Carlos. The sale of Adebayor will also generate funds to buy another good striker. Arsenal's greatest strength is the midfield. The departure of Flamini, Hleb and Gilberto means Arsenal's midfield is significantly weaken. The new summer signings of Nasri and Ramsey will take time to fit in. Such drastic changes in midfield is a big worry for Wenger.
Arsenal's challenge for trophies have already taken a significant blow this summer. Wenger should have kept Hleb and Flamini. The purchase of Nasri and Ramsey is to add more depth to the squad and should not be a replacement for both Hleb and Flamini. To let Gilberto go is not an issue and getting 1 miilion pounds for the deal is a good deal as his peak is over.
Wenger mentioned that he would add one more midfielder to his squad before the transfer window closes. He should at least add one more player apart from the the midfielder mentioned. Wenger must be realistic if he really intends to challenge for the title. The squad that he has is so young and inexperience compared to Chelsea and United.
