Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool want Dutch ace
THREE-WAY VAART FIGHT
by CHRIS BASCOMBE
DUTCH forward Rafael van der Vaart will trigger a £15million scrap for his services between Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool.
Anfield boss Rafa Benitez is the latest to show interest in the 25-year-old playmaker.
Megabucks Chelsea are already on his trail.
And United will turn their attention to Van der Vaart if Cristiano Ronaldo leaves Old Trafford for Real Madrid.
The Hamburg star’s versatility makes him an attractive recruit for Benitez, who is desperate to fill the No 7 shirt vacated by Harry Kewell.
Financial constraints will dictate whether Liverpool can seriously compete with United and Chelsea for the player.
Valencia’s David Silva and Middlesbrough’s Stewart Downing are other striking options being eyed by Benitez.
Seems strange that any club would spend £15 million on a player who has a release clause which means he can leave HSV for about £2 million next summer. Granted that is a year away, but for £13 million cheaper I think I would wait! Of course HSV will have to sell as van der Vaart has made it clear he will not sign a new contract, but £15 million is excessive! Maybe Chelsea will buy him!

Well this story seems very strange to me. I live in Hamburg and the only talk about van der Vaart is that he wants to go to Spain. The price quoted all through this season at Hamburg €10 Million. I don't know where this story has come from but not a single Sunday paper I have read today in Germany has said anything of the sort. The local Hamburg newspaper which is usually very good for HSV news has absolutely nothing about van der Vaart moving to the premiership. I'll believe that one when I see it.

I would like to see him here and not Barry, if you see Barry´s price is higher than vaart´s price but I think Vaart has much quality and is younger. So if you read this Rafa please sign van der Vaart to make the strongest midfield in the premier league.
