Not all Villa fans are the same and i'm certainly not a 'moaning brummie'. I have been a Villa fan all my life and also a Barry fan. We live in a day and age where people want to better themselves and its understandable that Barry wants to move on. We had the chance to get into Europe and we were unlucky to miss out on a place, but i think realistically Villa's focus needs to be strengthening the squad size, as we cannot consistently play well with so few players to choose from. If Barry wants to go then he has to go, but we will want the best price for him.A few seasons ago Barry was set to leave and he was convivced by MON to stay. I would be very suprised if MON hasn't spoken to Barry since the England game. As a pool fan it would be great to see Barry at Liverpool but what a waste off £17 million, for starters he is only costing that because he's English and all English players are way over priced, also why spend that money on something we already have have XABI ALSONO. We could be using the money to get something we really need and thats a couple of good wide men and a striker to play with Torres. Complete waste of money that we dont have. What are Liverpool gaining from this transfer other than he's English.

Good player then he came to Liverpool and now a Talisman and earned the respect of taking over Didi Hamman's role as anchor man - With Rafa making a few good quality signings in the summer remember its not always the price that makes a good player its the team around him helps him become a greater player - Look at Cesc Fabregas bought from Barca for a smaller fee compared to other signings... Now whats he worth has he has developed from a good player into a great player because he is surrounded by better players...

The Barry situation is simple. Pay the money or dont get him. If you cant afford it just face up to the reality of the situation and get on with it.

We are under no pressure to sell Barry. He has two years left on his contract and if Rafa thinks Crouch is worth £15m (with one year left on his contract) because he is an England international then Barry is worth more - its simple.

Just like to say my bit on the whole situation, I think Gareth Barry is one of the best midfield players in the Prem, the people who doubt his quality are not really looking at the sort of player he is. He is not a playmaker that runs with the ball, he is a more defensive midfielder that spots a moment when he can pass the ball for the better, look what happened when he came on in the Trinidad game, his first touch was to Gerrard who ran on and scored. I personally reckon Villa and MON's valuation is correct and although GB has expressed his dersire to leave the club i wish him all the best as he's been a brilliant servant to Villa! However if Liverpool don't come up with the correct bid then i'm afraid he's still signed on with us for another 2 years. I really hope Liverpool do buy him as i think the whole situation will turn sour at Villa park if he stays. I only want players that want to play at Villa and we should let go of the ones that don't! Yes it will take time to turn Villa into a top 4 contender but in MON and Randy Lerner i think we've got the best shot out of the rest of the premier league teams!
