US President's cash may settle Anfield power struggle
BUSH HOLDS KOP KEY
by CHRIS BASCOMBE
AMERICAN President George Bush has emerged as a key figure in Tom Hicks' plans to retain his grip on co-ownership of Liverpool.
Bush is considering buying back shares in the Texas Rangers baseball team he sold to Hicks in 1998 once his term at the White House ends in January.
Gerrard begs Liverpool board for cash...
John Arne Riise looks set to quit the Premiership...
The Texas Rangers are worth an estimated £200million.
And the sale of some shares in his American sports interests may be enough to cover part of the cost of buying George Gillett's 50 per cent stake in Anfield.
Crumbling
But Hicks' critics claim he is only considering selling part of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Stars ice hockey team because his empire is crumbling.
The next crucial financial deadline is September, when the club must prove they have the funds to begin construction of the new stadium at Stanley Park.
If Hicks and Gillett cannot provide assurances, Dubai International Capital will finally have the opportunity to buy into Liverpool.
how has it ever come to this? our captain is saying that we need some investment...but Hicks justs want to use our money to pay his interest.
and now bush might be helping out his old friend tom...will this nightmare ever end? why won't he just leave us alone??
i've never been so depressed about the future for Liverpool. just look at what hicks has done to his teams here in the US.
we have no transfer funds and no hope.

Do we even have the money to construct the new stadium? Shall we have enough money to buy new players?

Although these board room troubles look certain to persist for the next few months, at least, I'm still very optimistic about Liverpool under the guidence of Rafa. If Torres is anything to go by then future signings for Liverpool look set to get much better than they have been in the past. Rafa will look to cut the fat from the frankly saggy belly of his squad and by my reckoning we make a good £20 million at least which will be enough for at least two good players (Barry and Rafinha). An money the board throw at Rafa say £30 million will give us the strenght to catch up a bit more with the likes of Manure or Ch£l$ki
Although feuding the two owners don't want to see their investment go sour financially and I do believe that they will proffer the money for Senor Benitez.
What can I say I'm an optimist, although financial security would be a nice boost.

haha, what an optimist you are eddie. Your board have got no back-bone. Unless some mug of a team come along and actually pay 15m for crouch then your not going to get 20m for transfers, on top of this even if you do mange to get 20m for players the best you can hope from the board is to top that by another by 10m, they definitely not gonna give 30m on top.
All the while chelski will have spent 30m before Euro 2008 starts and united will get their equally greedy, money hungry american owners to invest in the team as they at least understand the basics of the english football league.
Tottenham for 4th spot next season, haha

they come ..saying yes will will mprove the club... i dunno how long it is now but the only improvemnt i have seen is the signing or fernando torres ... tht just not good enough for a team that is supposed to be a top 4 ... The captain has sed give the manager at least 60million to buy new players. so if u want to stop the fans dislike then just give some money. You want this club to sucide dont you ... ?

If all goes well the Americans will be out soon enough. Gillet wants out, now just have to convey the message to Hicks in a way he'll understand..money...but with all the world wide fans for Liverpool out there, not going to matches or buying merchandise will not work....
But there is a little hope... i came across this little beaut of info a while back....
Citigroup have had 7.5billion US$ pumped into them by Abu Dhabi - One of the wives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Makhtoum is the sister of the ruler of Adu Dhabi -look out for Citigroup being touted as interested in Gillett’s shares.
If the front door wont open?

Crouch will bring in £8 - £9 million. Alonso will bring in £10 - £12 million. That gives Rafa more than £20 million for transfers.

Hicks and Gillett where broke before they borrowed the money to form Kop Plc to buy Liverpool much the same as the Glazers did with Man Utd. we are broke there is no doubt about that but contrary to public belief Man Utd despite there winning ways are heavily in debt and have not even scratched the surface of their 700 million pound loan. In financial reality they made an operating loss of £54 million pounds in real terms but their accountants have worked wonders in making that loss look like a 200 million profit. Genius or what? The fans dont care as long as they keep on winning which is the name of the game but dont be surprised if you see Cristiano going soon. What does this mean for liverpool. Well when Hicks sees that you can appease the banks with a big sale then torres and Gerrard for 80 million might not seem like a bad deal. Hicks has already shown he dont give a monkeys what people think

how the once mighty have fallen..... the current squad is lucky to be in the champions league pot. torres has made an average side look respectable.crouch is a circus freak and kuyt is played out of position and the early season rotation policy was a discrace not only to themselfs but to the teams they were playing. players are payed to play... if im a bit tired and dont go to work i dont get paid..... nuff said
