BARRY BOUND FOR KOP
GARETH BARRY will tell Aston Villa this week he wants to join Liverpool.
The England midfielder has decided he wants to quit the Midlands club after 10 years.
Barry says he deserves the chance to win major honours after his loyal but generally unrewarding service to Villa.
A source close to the player said: "Gareth feels it's time to move on. He's given his all to Villa but feels he now needs the new challenge and the opportunity to compete at the very top of the Premier League."
Wages
Barry would be able to double his £40,000 a week wages by moving to Anfield.
Chelsea and Arsenal also want him but he believes Liverpool will offer him a regular starting place and is the best option financially.
Villa boss Martin O'Neill is furious with the way Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has handled the deal — but he will not stand in Barry's way if he is determined to leave.
O'Neill could press for a deal which would earn Villa £15million plus striker Peter Crouch.
FRAUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just goes to show some players have no ambition. Liferfool are a nothing team, for 19 years now we have been hearing the same rubbish from liverfool and the likes of captain calamity fat boy gerrard and how liverfool are closing in on the title. they was gonna win it the year after beating milan in the ucl. they only have 1 player of any quality and thats torres, and when jafa beneathus up and leaves in the summer he will be gone as well. all good and well fatty skipper saying he could never see himself leaving liverfool, but didnt he threaten to quit twice for chelsea just to get two massive pay hikes ? proving him to be the biggest money grabbing scouse mercenary around, his not even that good for crying out loud, look what he done for england as stand in skipper when terry was out, in russia, a qualification game that was vital we won, gerrard the lardass lead us to defeat. against croatia at wembley, a game england simply had to win, once more he was stand in skipper for terry, once more he lead us to failure, id say take him out and shoot him like the dog he is, but a bullets worth more than the talentless piece of money grabbing rubbish.

I don't blame Barry for wanting to better his career. It's very easy for Villa fans to slate him, however,
if they were offered the same opportunity the majority would take it. Villa have not shown enough ambition and I wonder if Lerner is going to take this club to another level? The Jury is still out on that one!!

Mark & Terry. If you were in Barry's shoes, you'd go. Why does he play football? To compete at the highest level & win things. Are Villa going to break into the top 4? No, Everton & Spurs may do next year, not you i don't think unless there is a major summer intake to bolster your squad.
I as a Liverpool fan am sick & tired of hearing the same thing every year, this is the year we challenge. I dont think we'll be any closer to the title next year but we will be in contention for the domestic cups & playing champions league & we all know we are capable of going far in that comp. Will Liverpool be closer to the title than Villa, yes. Why the hell would Barry not move to us, to stay with you & have another season were you maybe just maybe might qualify for a UEFA cup spot. Be honest with yourselves & wish him well if he does go & stop being bitter.
Although i do agree with O'Neill, Rafa has gone about this totally wrong. But then it does happen all the time, look at todays paper, Owen & Utd, out situation with Crouch, yourselves & Pompey. It does happen but it doesn't make it right.

I wouldn't blame Bazza if he left, he has been a loyal servant to the club for 10 years and deserves his big break. But...what if today the mighty Villa managed to get into the UEFA cup by beating the Hammers & the Toon beat the Toffees? I'm just hoping I guess. But maybe then Bazza might just stay?

Not too sure he will go. MON will increase his wages and with th eowrld cup coming up he needs to play every week and he wont at Liverpool. Also, Liverpool a club in turmoil with nobody knowing whats going on. What if Rafa leaves which is quite possible. Souurce close to Barry says ....yes whatever !!

Perhaps villans on this board decrying the move on the basis that LFC are not successful might explain how Gerrard and others have every club honour it's possible to win apart from the obvious big one which is of course the premiership. They include winners medals in the FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Cup and Champions League. Only the two teams which have spent more have won more in the last four years since Rafa's arrival, assuming Man Utd win something this term, otherwise Fergie doesn't qualify! YNWA

Chelsea won't anything + he wouldn't be guaranteed first team football, the same with Man U. Liverpool have been in 2 champions league final's in four years, he will win stuff with us. Rafa needs one more season, then the sack if no trophies come our way.

Gareth has been with Villa for 10 good years.I for one , as a Villa fan, although sorry to see him go,wish him every success. He has provided sterling service in his time at Villa Park.Good luck to him.I'd unhappy if he were leaving and Villa were relegation candidates where it would be a case of rats leaving a sinking ship. But this is not the case.
Also, Villa fans, remember, he is one man.One man can be replaced - one man does not make a team.We have the right manager in Martin O'neal. He knows what he's doing.Put you'r trust in him and he will reward us all.And to all the Liver fans - just remember where you got him from .He will serve you well and be another big Anfield name.Look after him.

Why is Martin O'Neill bleating so much? The behaviour of which he is accusing Rafa Benitez, mirrors the manner in which Barry originally went to Villa. Some people may have forgotten he was effectively "stolen" from Brighton & Hove Albion, who had spent time nurturing Garteh through their youth system. Yes, Villa had to eventually cough up some compensation, but this was peanuts to the value of Gareth to Brighton as a potential first team player/captain. What comes around goes around Villa fans, this is the way of modern day football I'm afraid.

Whilst I will be sad to see our captain leave I can't begrudge him a move to a club that could give him CL football and the greater possibility of winning trophies. We (Villa) are on the up finally but at 27 years of age Gareth needs to be playing at the highest possible level now, whilst he is in the peak of his form. I just hope we don't do it on the cheap, Liverpool's apparant opening offer is derogatory, £14m and your in business.

I as a Villa fan would not be bothered to see Barry go to Liverpool, yes he has had a good season this year but when was the last time? Enjoy sitting on the Liverpool bench for most of next season Gareth.
