Arsenal stars question Wenger tactics
YOU DON'T KNOW
WHAT YOU'RE DOING
EXCLUSIVE by ROB SHEPHERD
ARSENE WENGER is facing the first dressing room crisis of his Arsenal career.
On the day of the Old Trafford clash which could kill off the Gunners' season entirely, unhappy stars are questioning the manager (above) over tactics and team selection.
Major rifts have also opened amongst the players with goalkeeper Manuel Almunia admitting he knows he is ‘hated' by rival Jens Lehmann.
Arsenal's Champions League progress had helped paper over the cracks.
Tension
But after losing to Liverpool in midweek, there is a growing tension between managers and some players.
One Gunners source said: "The turning point was going out of the FA Cup to Manchester United, the team hasn't recovered from that.
"Suddenly there are major inquests going on. Nobody can understand why Kolo Toure was played at right-back instead of centre-half in big games, everybody can see Emmanuel Eboue isn't a midfielder and there is too much pressure on Cesc Fabregas to carry the team.
"Arsene wants to play attractive, passing football but some of the senior players think he's breeding a team of youngsters who think it's OK to just play well without having to actually graft to win games.
"There isn't a winning mentality like there is at Manchester United or Chelsea. There doesn't seem to be a win-at-all-cost attitude."
Friction
Almunia went public on the breakdown in his relationship with Lehmann, admitting: "To have someone here who hates me is just amazing. I know he hates me.
"Every morning I know it's going to be the same but I don't care. I don't want any relationship with him any more."
There is also friction between skipper William Gallas and some of the younger players.
And the growing resentment with Nicklas Bendtner was highlighted when only Theo Walcott congratulated him for his goal against Liverpool last weekend.
Alumunia revealed Wenger dislikes tension. The keeper said: "The boss is trying to build a team of kind people. He doesn't like arguments."
Many believe Wenger is missing the influence of former vice-chairman David Dein, who left the club a year ago.
Actually Arsenal started to lose it when Tottenham thrashed them 5-1 in the Carling Cup semi!

Wenger will be at Barca next season you watch!

Just look at his record it speaks for itself

Birmingham FC is the cause of Arsenal's bad luck. The tackle on Eduardo left Arsenal with only one striker (Adebayor) at the point where he (Eduardo) was becoming the most prolific striker in the premier league.

It's last chance saloon for Wenger vs Man Utd later on today.....can't see them winning it even if they were to beat UTD today......the squad was badly exposed this year round and the FA Cup defeat to Man UTD on feb 16 and Eduardo's injury psychologically affected the whole team badly....it's great to watch them( that's coming fron a Chelsea fan) but at the end of the day it's all about winning trophies....he has apparently been given a £60 mil war chest.....spend the lot on Modric, Huntelaar, Messi and Wheater....players like that should want to come to Arsenal the attacking football they favour.....

Arsenal must buck up now before they face MU otherwise they stand to lose everything. There is no need for beautiful football anymore. Once you enter the penalty box or withing 25 yards from the opponent's goal mouth take a shot, as many shots as possible and try to win the game. If you lose to MU tonight, it may take as long as two years to recover.

I hope that AW doen't go completely mental if Arsenal lose tomorrow and do something embarassing.
At times on the sideline he looks close to having a nervous breakdown.

Arsenal was badly hit due to injuries to persie and Edurado at crucial point of time. Lack of bench strength is a real concern. It is time for Wenger to aggressively spend on young talents like Messi to build a great time for the coming season.

Biggest load of tosh ive ever heard.
'CHampions League papered over the cracks'
For christs sake, with a smaller and cheaper squad they are 6 points behind the league leaders with a handfull of games to go.
They were robbed of a semi spot in the CL semis.
Although everyone wants success now, football is a business, succesful busy is a long game.
Clubs spending money they dont have will fail. Arsenal WILL be the richest club and WILL have the money to spend when its in the bank as the new stadium starts to generate income.
Not one other manager could have done what Wenger has done. Not Fungus, Not Mourinho, Not Benitez, Not Lippi, Cappello, Cruyff, Not Anyone!
He is a principled man, and all credit to him for sticking to it.
He could have put Arsenal in debt and bought 100mil quids worth of players and won everything, but at what cost.
When Roman arrived the game changed. Arsenal were top of the tree but the team was getting old. Even without the stadium costs he couldnt buy the top players coz roman had upped the starting price.
He took a step back and decided on limited budget to buil and build.
Have a look at the improvement. Arsenal have been close up all season and lead for much of it. So what if they JUST fail. They have had many injuries and in the last 2 months alot of bad luck. ANd yet they can still win the league.
Next season with a SMALL amount of change they can improve again. at this stage last season it was about 20 point behind. it could be 3 after today and even if its 9 its a massive improvement!
Oh, and arent all you slaggers the same ones who want him to manage England? I belive the transfer budget in that job is ZERO!

I think the problem with AW is his obsession with pattern weaving/pretty soccer. When the players reach the box, they pass and pass with no shots on goal. As a result teams have wised up. His repugnance for the long ball that resulted in two goals for Chelsea and one from which torres scored is alien to him . His philosophy is pass by feet.
Until such time as he knows that the name of the game is winning even ugly Arsenal can forget about winning trophies. He is lucky the board have given him a free hand but even in the career of managers no matter how great they are,a time will come when his methods/strategy becomes out of date.

I think this comment is out of place. I'm a Man United die hard fan but I felt that this Arsenal team is good. Even though, I believe we will beat them tonight and Arsenal team will end up with nothing this season, it will still be a season where they had exceeded expectation. At the beginning of this season, no one gives them any chance at all of challenging for honours except Sir Alex who mentioned that Arsenal is indeed a contender and even more so with Henry not being there. No one else believes so but Arsenal had fight a good season to be in the position that they are in now.
So, give credit when it's due, this Arsenal team can surely get better as they mature but of course, the same with Man United who will only gets better and better. So, expect these two to fight it out for years to come.

I REALLY DO THINK ITS TIME FOR AW TO MOVE ON. HE IS STRUGGLING TO COPE WITH MANAGING THE TEAM'S RELATIONSHIP. HE IS SO STURBORN. I DON'T SEE HIM SPENDING BIG IN THE SUMMER. HE NEEDS SOME ENGLISH PLAYERS AND MORE EXPERIENCE PLAYERS IN THE SQAUD!
I THINK THE ARSENAL BOARD SHOULD BE HARD ON HIM. ANY OTHER BIG CLUB MANAGER, EVEN ALEX FERGUSON WOULD BE UNDER DEEP PRESSURE OR WOULD HAVE BEEN SACKED WITH OVER 3 SEASONS WITHOUT A TROPHY.

Venkatakrishna you need to chill out !!
Firsty Sir Alex can do what Wenger has done and better. i know we have money to go for the big buy but Sir Alex also produced a young team of ENGLISH boys who won the double something Wenger will NEVER EVER do.
Arsenal do play good football at time but they do only have one type of game. how many times in the last 3 seasons have we heard that Arsenal have dropped points because they're trying to walk the ball in the net?
No-one ever will win the Premiership by playing 38 games of beautiful football it's always the horrible 1-0 wins that bring home the good.
I can even back you over the fact that he is a man of principle, because what Arsenal do in the Premiership United have been doing in the Champions League for years. Sir Alex won't play scrappy football which is amazing when it work's (roma 7-1) but heartbraking when it doesn't (milan 3-0).
At the end of the day what it comes down to is this.. how ever great you play your football or how much you spend on your transfers you Never get anything for being a runner up and that's what Wenger now is.

It's easy for the haters to pull the daggers out when a result goes against arsenal. When we were leading the league all that time where we you? Now we have lost a couple of games and you join the badwagon. As an arsenal fun, i am happy with the way the team has progressed this season, trophy or no trophy. The players have done exceptionally well considering that at the beginning of the season we were written off as no hopers after Henry left.We have had a couple of bad decisions go against us in some games but we have learnt to move on and not spend days arguing about those decisions.I am right behind Arsene and his philosophy of the way the game should be played. All you Gunners haters why don't you concentrate on your own teams and leave Arsenal alone.

Arsenal = excellent beautyful footbal
Wenger = every club in the world wants even except Man U ( That will change when Sir Alex retires)
Even if Arsenal loses today it's been a sucessfull season taking in account lack of experienced players, injuries and dodgy referes decisions against the club.
We Arsenal fans will ALWAYS love Wenger no matter what, and you know why ? Because this man has restored Arsenal's pride, respect and put them back in the map of the true footbaling sides alongside the likes of Barcelona, Man U, River Plate of Argentina and Flamengo of Brasil.
We know that by sticking with Wenger we will have wonderful days, immense joy, even if today some short sighted ones can see what the future holds for this current Arsenal side.
Dare to change Wenger, bring a Mourinho, a Cappelo, a Van basten and you will regret it. They won't be as loyal, hard working, dedicated to the Arsenal cause as Wenger has been for the past 10 years.
Be very, very, careful Arsenal fans. Someone is saying to you that a loved one (wenger) is not good for you, so that when you let him go, they will gladly receive him with open arms and laugh at your stupidity.

Its true wenger doesn't know what he was doing, even me who is not a manager knows Eboue is not a midfielder, and if Sagna is injured the only thing you as a manager you have to do is to push Eboue back and use Diaby or wallcot,Senderos has caused Arsenal so much and as a manager you don't need to be told.anytime Arsenal palys Chelsea and we loose is Senderos, any good striker would score a goal against Senderos.Bentner is a lazy player, and he doesn't deserve to play for Arsenal, he has nothing to offer for Arsenal,Almunia is just like a waist pipe, a waist of space, and jens has got every right to hate him. because i do hate him as well, he doesn't make a save, any mistake from the defenders is a goal,a goal keeper who started goal keeping at the age of 30 yrs, and a team like Arsenal's goal keeper do not get call up in Spainish national team,Justin Hoyte had every opportunity to excel las season but he couldn't so why do you still keep him?why can't you sell him and use the money to buy a good player, you won the premiership with Anelka, Overmas, Petit and co are they the same players you have now? your selections are so poor and you can use economy in football, or mathmatics and say we have lost few games that any other team but yet we are 3rd, Clichy knows he hasn't got a cover so he is just playing for playing sake, as a manager you should know van persie is an injury prone, since you bought him how many games has he played for arsenal in a season so why don't you buy a cover for him? To pay 15 million for frank Ribbery was a problem for you, why are you so self to think about your commision and not thinking aboout us over breaking our heart? are you obsessed with children or what? you sell your good players and you don't buy, th players were so naive that why do you play a draw with wigan and complain about the pitch when people go there to win, Galas shoud be left alone after all i would have done the samething, look at what clinchy did in Birmingham to loose a panalty at the last min and you tell me Gallas is over reacting, would this happen is Man u or chelsea? Arsenal were leading five points now we are chaasing and Gallas so it coming,

Where is team morale!! As for there being injuries to the team ALL players on a team should be trying to score goals not just the strikers..One or two players dont make a team.. I fully agree Arsenal are a great team but talk about moaning about everything..Get out there and battle for wins..Act like a solid team. There are no Trophys for moaning!!!!

Arsene Whinger is getting what he deserves. Nothing is ever his fault; he sees everything that happens against his team, but never sees when his players do anything wrong. They may play pretty football, but they over play all the time and consistently have the worst disciplinary record. And I am so bored about hearing about his young team. He'll be saying that when they are all over 35.

i must admit arsenal are the only team i enjoy watching playing in the PL and that is all down to arsene. For many years he has honoured the english PL by introducing players like anelka, vieira, henry, pires, lijungberg, van persie, fabregas, hleb, rosisky and stars of tomorrow like walcott, denilson, eduardo,adebayor...etc and all or most he signed for relatively little amount. Look how much these players have done for the team? in financial terms, in increasing the fan base, in improving the image of the PL...etc. when we talk about results we've to take all this things into consideration i think. Look how much manu, chelsea, pool and spurs have spent in the last 2 - 3 years alone, unbelievable amount of money but very little to show for it. Chelsea or manu couldn't even reach the CL final in the last five years, manu won the PL title only once in the last four years........so where is the result any better than arsenal's? so lets put our criticisms on perspective. In the coming few years arsenal will be a great team once again under arsene.

From the ongoing given the captain arm band to Gallas in place of Gilberto was wrong.
Being an Arsenal fan Gallas behaviour and leadership is questionable considering what has happen in the past. A leader has to be modest and lead by good example, which has not reflect on the leadership of Gallas. looking at previous captaing like Patrick and Adams, Gallas is not yet ripe to lead the team.
Secondly the injury to Eduardo and Rosiscky reveal to everybody that Arsenal strenght in depth is too tiny considering squard number of Chelsea, Man U and even Liverpool.
In the end i feel that for Arsenal to compete for Premiership, Champions League, Carling Cup and the F. A cup Aseranl will require just more that 15 players as the case is at the moment.
In January Chelsea Man U and Liverpool all spent millions but Arsenal spend just £200.000, which i find unbelieveable for a manager that want to compete with the big Three.
I seriously hope Wenger has seen and realised what kind of squard will be required to compete in 4 Competitions.

Some of you Arsenal supporters live in a dream world anything Wenger has done SAF has done before him more successfully. Wenger hasn't even won back2back championships why would Man Utd want him even when he retires SAF has won 3 on the trot and won 2 European trophies CWC and UCL.
Sid the red: Didnt you read the article or do you just read selective paragraphs. Arsenal hasn't got over it thats why there's in fighting in the dressing room. They never get over Man Utd beating them remember 49-0 your invincibles where never the same again and Wenger had to disemble them. Now I'm afraid he his lost the the plot he refuses to accept any responsibility for his team and his inability to work with young English players is almost criminal.
If Theo Walcott played for Man Utd he would be a superstar Which SAF once again has done before Wenger and continues to do more successfully (Rooney & Ronaldo 17/18 respectively when they joined the club). With whats happening now at the club I cannot see this team recovering from this season with out a overhaul of the team and if they realy are turning against the manager then it's all over for Wenger and Arsenal as no manager or team has ever recovered from that.

I think the reason arsenal are in free fall is due to a number of factors, firstly the injury to eduardo, van persie, rosicky, denilson etc but this brings it down to one thing and that is the fact that the squad is just not big enough, we have drawn matches due to mainly injuries and mistakes, we havent really been out played much this season, i mean loosing only 2 matches all season is worth the title alone, forget referee decisions, if the squad was big enough i dont think we would be in this position, we need a strong bench, bentner is rubbish, adebayour is too selfish and not prolific, and fab has played way too many matches.we need a clear out of certain players such as leahman, senderos, gilberto hoyte, traore, diaby and eboue.

Although i agree with the comment football is about winning trophies, I dont believe Wenger is going to leave a job half done. Wenger is probably ahead of schedule in turning these young players into a class outfit. Challenging for the title , close in europe, without that luck you need to win any cup competition, this is hardly a crisis. I dont believe many would have tipped Arsenal to be so close. Things change quickly in football and remember the seasons not over.

It has been a tough end to the season, he has made mistakes, and as News of the World have revealed, some of the players are kicking up.

According to one leading newspaper, since Arsenal last won the Premiership Chelsea have a net spend of £182million Man Utd £94million Liverpool £61million while Arsene Wenger has made a profit of £15million. No other manager could have kept a team in the top 4 under these circumstances. As for SAF having done everything that Wenger has achieved - I must have missed him winning the league in his first full season or going a whole league season unbeaten.

well am a massive fan of wenger,he is idolised in england by both the media and neutrals so much so that the mistakes he makes go unnoticed, the guy is very stubborn on the transfer market,he needs to buy mentally strong players,a midfilder a centre back a winger and a striker,he should go for finished articles like david villa,we do have talented young players but he needs to dilute them with experience, kolo toure has had a bad season he has given away countless penalties,l aint sure if bendner, senderos and eboue are gud enough for that team,so to keep pple like fabregas away from real or barcelona he needs to bring in a couple of big names,so l say to genuine arsenal fans lets give wenger one more season, there is no excuse of not winning silverware season.

any decent chef can walk into waitrose with a no limits budget and whip up a decent meal, but it's something else to go to tesco with a tenner and produce a michelin starred dinner.
in terms of spending arsenal is in the bottom third of the table yet year after year competes for the title .just look at how much manu , chelski and pool spend to play the same old boring brand of footie not to mention the costly disasters ( veron ,bellion , stam,sheva,mutu,cisse....) I mean how many managers have turned a 300 grand buy ( anelka ) into a thirty million sale and not once ( overmars , petit , viera , henry ...) and that is after winning trophies with them.
in years to come everyone will say that arsene was simply way ahead of his time, ask any neutrals which side they watch in the premiership and you'll have no doubts.

Wenger has discovered a large number of very talented
players during his career.
However, I feel that the current crop do not make an
'outstanding'team, because there are basic weaknesses
in the system.
For a start we play Toure and Gallas as centre back
pair. Both are outstanding players, but they have
attacking traits and sometimes fail to deliver on
the bread and butter of defending.
Second our midfield is lacking in players who can
score goals. Fabregas looked as though he could
deliver at the beginning of season, but since January
has contributed virtually no goals. Hleb does not
know how to shoot and Rosicky is always injured.
Arsenal has on paper some excellent forwards, but over the last two years we have been overdependent on Adebayor who on both occasions was burnt out.
Henry and Van Persie were injured for large parts of
last season and the same has happened this year with
Van Persie and Eduardo limiting our options in this
department.
The team needs also a world class goalkeeper. Almunia is a solid second string, but not a first
choice world class player. He is never going to be a
match winner unlike Seaman or Lehmann in their prime.

Transfer policy has cost us badly for the last three seasons. Its disgusting to think he still has a job. Had he been at Man U, Chelsea or Liverpool he would have been sacked by now.
The only reason he still has a job is because he makes a profit on the transfer market. However, that is not his job so he shouldn't keep gloating about it and compare his stratgey to the others.
His job is to win trophies and he has failed.
As an Arsenal fan for over 20 years I thought Wenger would be our saviour when he first came. He was... and that time has passed. He is now ruining the team and running us into the ground.

There is not one arsenal fan i speak to who has doubts about Wenger and his ability and policies going forward.
Yeh, he proabably will fill up the stadium with 60,000 fans but he wont win us anything major. He alcks what top managers like Fergie have. It makes me sick to the stomach that the team cant put two wins together agains very poor sides like boro and birmingham. this season has been a catastrophe.
Like Wenger said in the news lately, we should all blame him and not the players. He has messed up big time.

SHEP.. a message for you mate.
AW job is to win silverware. It is not to make the club filthy stinkin' rich.
All AW does is moan about how he makes profit and all the other teams make losses. But he fails to understand that it is not his job to make profits. He is a coward. Hiding behind profitability issues instead of holding himself accountable for his poor decision making.
I hope a Adams or Bergkamp come to Arsenal soon and save us from Wenger. He has destroyed the morale of the team and he is slowly destroying the fan base.

I am one of those that believes that ARSENAL is still the best team in the world. What we need is just touch here and there and the present team can give us wthat we have been waiting for since three seasons ago. I have seen Arsenal play since the begining of the season and what i found out in the team is that Eboua is not a winger as he is being use now. He has played more from that wing than Theo but Theo has made a massive impact than he has done. If Theo has started more games than Eboua Arsenal will not have been in the situation they are in now. Againe we need better leg at center back than Senderos. Please Mr Wenger Arsenal the fans deserve more.

What other team has gone unbeaten for 49 games and smashed a 118 year old record. Not even Manu, Chelsea or Liverpool can lay claim to this. And whose team was it - Wengers. Just give this team time and they will come good. Arsenal were written off at the beginning of this season but for the most of it they have been top of the PL. Yes they have had unfortunate injuries such as Eduardo's broken leg but they have also had disgraceful referring decisions (Birmingham non-penalty, Liverpool CL 1st leg penalty not given, Liverpool Cl 2nd leg soft penalty given against them). We have to take these in our stride but when decisions continually occur like these it is tough. Are we down hearted - NO.

It was arrogant of to think that there was no need to replace Henry. Wenger should have replaced him with Anelka last summer. We were already without RVP by the time the 1st leg v PSV was played last season. Henry's season was all but finshed by the 2nd leg. To find ourselves in a similar situation this season is down to poor planning by Wenger.
Adebayor in spite of his tally this season is no Anelka, Henry or Torres. Therefore we are already doomed for next season if we are relying on him to lead the front line.

Nah thought not!! We lead the PL for most of the season ...DUHHHH. Respect to those who have rightly sought to squash such stupid and moronic ideas. ArseneStillKnows

Arsene should move on, time to get some brits on board to shore up the squad. just look at man u - excellent foreign players but with a british backbone. results speak for themselves. fergie is god

A great team, does great things, wins great things. All season Arsnal has ben hailed as a great team. But what makes a great team....winning trophies, nothing more nothing less. We have being hearing for over three seasons now that Mr Wenger is putting a new great team together, in that time his team has one nothing, and it seems will win nothing again this term.
The simple equation is this for all the gunners fans, you clasify your team as one of the biggest in the world, and the latests stats points out that financially you are, then if your team is, your team on pitch has to justify that position, again that means by winning trophies. There are no excuses, the staduium is there, the finances are there for new players. Alex ferguson put together a new team within three seasons in which in that time they won the premiership and a cup in cardiff, and also reached the final of the FA cup. Nuff said really.

If the money made by the club is more important than winning trophy, Arsenal is killing English football. Roman and Hicks are spending their money to buy better football - winning football - for the club, the fans and for themsleves. Whilst Arsenal, breeding young player they buy cheaply, only to sell it at premium price. The club/owner enjoys a heck of a profit from it, the players enjoys their salary and transfer money, and the fans left with awe of being 3rd or 4th in the premier league. Who poisoned English Football with money worst ? Arsenal, MU, Chelsea or Liverpool ? Hopefully Arsenal can win today and proof I'm wrong. It's dire though.

I am a United fan so I'm not really bothered what Arsenal do but I do think it's a little harsh to suggest Arsene Wenger doesn't know what he is doing.
He has produced a team that plays fantastic football and I think the one missing factor is a Viera type player. He needs to bolster his squad with a couple of hard-tackling midfielders who may not play the good-looking football he craves but can give the team the 'Terry' or 'Rooney' factor - players who just want to win regardless of how the football may look.
Take Ronaldo away from United and you lose that breath-taking excitement but in the rest of the players you have a squad who are dogged and still have the ability to win matches.
An example is when SAF had Larsson and Blanc at United, they were never going to be long-term signings but they offered the squad that bit of experience and calmness which younger players need when things aren't going there way.
Even if Arsene brings in a couple of older players on loan for a season just to balance his team until the maturity kicks in, that will be enough to see Arsenal winning trophies again.
One thing Arsenal cannot do is lose Wenger. If they do, who do they bring in? Bringing in another manager will only mean a few more seasons of winning nothing until the new managed has bedded in.
Arsenal have the money available and their style of football must surely attract some of the top of players in the world so why not go after them?
Thats my defence of Arsenal and Arsene over so it leaves me to say, I hope we end their title hopes today!!

MAN U 2 : Arsenal 1
that scoreline proves he doesn't know what hes doing if you watch the game.
The team are not clinical. Adebayor was so so poor! He hasn't been able to finish for the last 10 games or so. To think you can stick him up there as a lone striker... you must be deluded.
Playing Van Persie out of position again does not help.
The should have started with Walcott on the left also.
Fabregas looked tired. He has every right to be tired as the burden to provide rests on his shoulders for nearly every game this season. Poor guy.
Wenger needs to get with the times. Its a squad that wins the league... not a bunch of kids jelled together by some French magic.

A schedule of events this season:
Loose to Tottenham (Kicked out the Carling Cup)
Loose to Man Utd (Kicked out the FA Cup)
Loose to Chelsea (Threaten our Prem League position)
Loose to Liverpool (Kicked out the Champions League)Loose to Man Utd (Ends our Prem League campaign)

I love Wenger. Hes an excellent manager. One of the best in the world. What he has done with Arsenal is amazing.
He just needs to get four players this summer. A winger (BEN ARFA), a central defender (ZAPATA), a striker (CAPEL) and an attacking midfielder (ROBINHO).
Line them up as follows:
Almunia
Sagna Zapata Gallas Clichy
BenArfa Fabregas Robinho Vela
Capel VanPersie

I have to agree totally with the comments made by Venkatakrishna.Your Manager has brought in young player's who have cost the club small sum's of money.Arsenal are in a far Healthier position than Liverpool.Whilst Liverpool have spent large sum's of money, Arsenal have looked to the future both on and off the field of play.As for Man Utd they too have large debts that have to be repaid some time.I support Q.P.R. and I live in North Yorkshire. Not that far away is a team called Leeds who spent and spent and landed up with nothing.Wenger is the best Manager for Arsenal by far.Next season could be Arsenal's.They should still be in the Champion's League. The ref certainly made two (2) bad decisions which went the way of Liverpool.Good Luck to Arsenal next season.Arsenal play the type of football that people love to see.

Eat your hearts out Arsenal. MANUTD 2-Arsenal 1.Remember how you guys celebrated as if you had won the Premiership when you got a last minute equalizier at the Emirates.

As a Liverpool supporter and lover of good football. I have to laugh at all you Wenger haters and if you support Arsenal and want him out you should be ashamed of yourselves. He is by far and away the best manager in the premiership Rafa included. They have consistently out played us, they played Manure and Chel$ki off the park, but they lost all three games. Two reasons one they need a real striker who puts away all those chances they create and secondly they need better defensive organisation. What's he's done with the resources he has is fantastic and they just lack that little bit extra.
Anyway watch us go next year, Torres will tear it up!

You so called Arsenal fans who want AW sacked should go and "support" another team ( that's the mild version), we don't want you, you slag off the man who many of us believe is the best. OK we may disagree with selection such as Eboue in and Walcott on the bench etc. but he probably takes other aspects into account, after all it's easy to criticise with hindsight. It's amazed me so many ManU fans have actually sprung to AW's defence when so many so called Gunner fans have lost the faith. Get lost in short jerks. Arsenal for ever since 1970

I find it amusing.... Who is the most inexperienced player in the Arsenal team?
Fabragas - Played first team and CL since 2005
van Persie - Played since 2004
clichy - 2004
Gallas
gilberto -
Toure - 2003
Eboue - best rightback in europe 2005/2006.
so we are left with flamini, hleb walcott diaby and bentner who would fit into any first team

"Transfer policy has cost us badly for the last three seasons. Its disgusting to think he still has a job. Had he been at Man U, Chelsea or Liverpool he would have been sacked by now."
-Had he been at Chelsea, he'd have been abramovich's puppet. Everyone cries, "spend money, spend money!" The point is that just going out and dropping millions on a player doesn't guarantee success. You need the right player(s), with the right attributes, and the right attitude.
Look at some big money signings that really haven't proved their worth...Darren Bent, Andriy Shevchenko, Owen Hargreaves. Sure, a buy like Torres proved successful for Liverpool, but with inflated transfer rates, you can't just throw money around assuming that big bucks equates to big talent.
The dismissal of Wenger on here is unreal. I think we need some depth and another quality striker (given Eduardo's situation and the injury prone nature of RVP), but this isn't a video game where you just buy '5-star players' and they magically perform. The puzzle pieces have to fit...

i'm a man u fan and am therefore naturally against all things arsenal. that said, aw has done a tremendous job with an extremely young team, grappling with loss of viera/henry.
lets face it, 2 of the 3 critical losses (FA cup and today) were to Man U - a team at the absolute top of the pile at present. against liverpool in the champs league they were robbed, twice. he has to be the 2nd best manager in the league, with the special one not currently in the mix.

Forget talking about why we lost the title and all this, Arsenal fan's need to send a message out to Arsene Wenger. In order for us to win anything next season we need a new captain, a new goalkeeper, a new centre back, a backup centre mid, a backup winger and another striker because Eduardo is injured. I think Arsene Wenger just needs to stop being so stubborn. Why does he play Almunia over Lehmann? Why does he play Eboue right mid over Walcott? Why does he play Toure right back? I've been saying this since the start of the season, we aren't gonna win anything because Wenger hasn't spent enough on experience and depth in the squad and he makes stupid team selections - sometimes. The most crucial part of the season is near the end when you need leaders, experience and backup for injuries. Why was Gallas captain after the Birmingham game? Arsenal HAVE got money to spend Wenger chooses not to, he even said it on Inside sport BBC1, why does he always have to do things the hard way? He has to sort this out, 3 seasons is a long enough transition period and if he doesn't win anything next season, I think we can start considering who our new manager is gonna be!!!

Let's face it Arsenal fans. We now have another trophy-less season. There has been much analysis of why we have almost completed another season looking down the barrel of the gun called failure.
I myself was apalled at the inability of AW to be able to rest players. Adebayor has run his socks of not mentioned a few other players. Injuries were a factor, but also poor quality players and contributed to our demise this season, such as Nicholas Bendtner, Ebouie whom I wanted to strangle on too many occasions to count and Almunia (pitfully poor).
Theo Walcott who only shone sparodically and when featured in full games would disappear for a whole half is definitely not worth the 12 million price tag, we could have purchased three good qaulity jallopies for that.
The inability of AW to invest at Christmas, must be considered another factor, every PL manager has to factor in injuries. He failed to do so. How many players did we lose in the last third of the campaign?
Eduardo, Van Persie, Sagna, Rosicky and Flamini. How in heavens name are we going to compete for silverware if half our first team are injured for months on end. The periphery players were poor.
The inability or reluctance of AW to spend is now coming under much more scrutiny than ever before. I am not just referring to one season, but season after season, when the top 3 teams have done so.
Liverpool, Manu and Chelsea have all capitalised on their transfer investments this season and are all still competitive in the big competitions.
The investment in youth policy has clearly failed AGAIN. AW needs to readopt a more robut transfer policy and buy quality, mature and larger players. Why are we so miniture in physical size?
Will we achieve next season? Yes, if the manager changes strategy and invests in quality players and moves on the has beens and non-performers. No, if we stay the same.
GET WELL SOON EDUARDO

I think Arsenal are being slauhtered right now because they have over-achieved.If you compare Sir Alex's achievements in his first twelve years at man u with mr wenger's achievements in his first 12 years at Arsenal,
you will notice there are a lot of similarities. In the next 10 years, man u dominated completely.I suspect that is what will happen at Arsenal in the next few years.Of course, they will need to reinforce their squad but I think they are very close to becoming a truly great club.
And dont ever forget si alex was criticised heavily, even booed when man u suffered between 2003 and 2006 after selling beckham, veron, bringing in cristiano, bellion, djemba, etc. It took them 3 years to get back to winning ways.

Kejih is right, in Fergie's first 12 years he won 8 trophies, 4 premierships, 3 FA Cups and 1 League cup. In Wenger's 12 years at Arsenal he's won 7 trophies, 3 Premierships and 4 FA Cups. So next season just like Fergie in his 13th year, Arsene Wenger should win the treble with Arsenal.

Arsenal will return next season with an even more powerful squad, bolstered by 3-4 top new signings and i confidently predict a successful campaign with a minimum of 2 trophies; In goal (promoted to 1st choice) LUKASZ FABIANSKI; (STRIKER) KARIM BENZEMA - 25 million euro's or thereabouts; (LEFT MIDFIELD) HATEM BEN ARFA; (CENTRE MIDFIELD) - MAHAMADOU DIARRA from Real Madrid & ZAPATA (Centre Defence)...... Oops i should have said 4-5 players.. This will give the injured RVP, Rosicky and Eduardo enough time to complete their recoveries while sorting the problem positions that were fully apparent this time around..
