But he is set to return with an improved offer after being handed a £40m war chest this summer.
Arca, 27, is still adored on Wearside, where he spent six years before asking to leave six weeks before Keane took charge in August. 2006.
Quipped
Despite losing his place in recent weeks due to a loss of form, Boro boss Gareth Southgate wants to keep Arca at the Riverside.
Southgate quipped eight months ago that Arca is worth £10m — but Keane would hope to land him for less than half of that.
Keane’s priority this summer is making Jonny Evans’ loan move from Manchester United permanent.
He will also make a renewed effort to land Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan as he looks to bring in five ‘quality’ players.

Please for Pete,s sake will someone take him.He has been a total waste of space for the BORO.
one decent game is followed by at least three rubbish and ineffective games, and it is thought by a number of fans where I sit that "the clown Arca" as he is known is the main reason for our present lowly position in the Premiership.
So please Mr.Keane,take him back.
