Capello gets Premier games called off before England fixtures
FABIO'S SUNDAY BAN
FABIO CAPELLO has scored his first major victory since becoming England boss by getting Sunday games called off.
The Italian coach has won a promise from the Premier League not to stage matches featuring the nation’s top clubs on the Sunday before a competitive England international.
Capello’s preparations for Wednesday’s friendly with France are being hampered by today’s Grand Slam Sunday showdowns which see the big four all in action.
Difficult
League leaders Manchester United face Liverpool while Chelsea and Arsenal collide at Stamford Bridge with 13 players from Capello’s original 30-man squad involved.

The England boss complained: “This is a friendly game but I’m still not ecstatic about it because some of them I will not be able to follow in training or get to train as I would like to.
“So it will be more difficult, obviously.”
That’s why Capello has already held talks with Premier League chiefs in a bid to ensure a similar situation won’t happen before a major England match.
FA communications chief Adrian Bevington revealed: “Fabio has met with the Premier League and my understanding is we have an assurance that this will never happen again for a competitive match.”
