MK Dons ace will remember stabbed cousin at Wembley

DYER FAMILY TRAGEDY

By BOB SAYER

MK DONS midfielder Lloyd Dyer will walk out at Wembley today with an army of family proudly watching him.

But there will be one special person missing — his cousin Leon, who was stabbed to death in a Birmingham park four months ago.

Dyer, 26, who faces Grimsby, said: "There's not a day goes past that I don't think about him.

"It's a big miss because he was my closest cousin. He's deep in my thoughts.

"Every game I play now is for him — and every goal I score is for him."

eDyer, who started at Aston Villa, has helped fire the Dons into the automatic promotion spots in League Two. Now he wants some Wembley glory too.

Promotion

He added: "My first Wembley memory is of Gazza scoring that free-kick for Tottenham in the FA Cup Final. I thought 'Yeh, I wouldn't mind doing that.'

"It's a bonus to go to Wembley this season and it would be nice to do the double-but promotion is the main aim."

Dyer's dazzling displays for the high-flying Dons this season have had a number of clubs tracking him.

Dyer, whose contract expires this summer, added: "I've heard there's interest but this is my No1 club. We've been talking for a few months about a new deal and hopefully it can get sorted quickly because I want to be part of this up-and-coming club.

"I have played Championship and Premiership football with West Brom. I'd like to get back to that level again and I'm hoping it can be with MK Dons."
