ESCALA BACK TONIGHT
By Holly Thomas
So the plot thickens. Following on from my prediction yesterday that it will always be the final act that gets through, what happens? An unexplained last-minute change of running order that’s what.
After a quick name change the night before, Escala (formerly known as Scala) found they would be closing the show. Surprise surprise, they’re back tonight and I’m guessing have already got a contract with Simon in the bag.
LAST ACT ON FIRST ACT THROUGH
By Holly Thomas
LAST act on, first act through. It was business as usual last night, feeding the numerous conspiracy theories surrounding the contest.
There’s no denying that Faryl Smith has an amazing set of lungs, but is it really fair to put mere mortals up against a girl who has reportedly been having lessons with Leona Lewis’s voice coach, courtesy of a certain mogul who has already signed her to his record label?
The real drama of the night came from the also-rans, desperately trying to milk their 15 minutes of fame for all it’s worth. Vizage blew their chances by ignoring the advice of the judges and letting Vicky sing. Given that the public vote was already a cert, then their only hope of getting through was to brown-nose the judges. But they couldn’t take a hint.
Poor little Charlie Green might just never talk to his dad again after narrowly missing out on going through to the live finals.
His pushy dad forced him to sing a terrible track called All I Want To Do Is Sing and oh how the judges turned.
But didn’t this exchange between Simon Cowell and the youngster break your heart just a little bit?
Who do you think are the frontrunners to win so far?
It was an impossible decision for the usually ruthless Simon Cowell – get rid of two adorable smiley little kids or a bunch of inspirational hoodies done good.
So, fully prepared for a whole heaps of flak, he booted the hoodies, otherwise known as Flava. And the adorable Cheeky Monkeys still have to chance to perform at the Royal Variety Performance.
Later Simon defended his decision like this: "Look, it’s a hunch. When I was looking at her little face with those glasses it was tough. I saw more improvement [from Cheeky Monkeys]."
After weeks of frenzied anticipation and what seemed like endless bad auditions clips, last night finally saw the launch of the Britain’s Got Talent live finals. And show one certainly didn’t disappoint.
Things started a bit slowly with Boogie Wonderland, a second rate dance act who could be found at any cheesy 80s club.
But then enter Gin the Dog. Why the producers didn’t kick off the finals with this act I’ll never know.

We're guessing it doesn't include this troupe of frighteningly endowed ladies waggling their breasts in time to The Clash. But we've been wrong before...
