Duffy's ex cheated on star - twice
By Rav Singh
THIS is the muppet who cheated on pop babe DUFFY—TWICE.
Music guru MARK DURSTON broke the blonde singer's heart by sleeping with TWO different women.
Chart sensation Duffy, 23, called Mark the "love of her life"—and wanted to marry him. But his betrayal abruptly ended their four-year relationship.
Mark, 35, says cheating was "the biggest mistake of my life". He reveals: "It was right at the start of our relationship and I felt awful for a long time. So later in our relationship I told her.
"Of course I regret cheating on her, but it happened— twice in fact, with two different women. Afterwards, I felt horribly guilty. I decided to tell her, as opposed to her finding out.
"She was furious —as mad as hell, in fact. I told her I knew it had been a mistake to cheat on her and that I was truly sorry and she forgave me."
But within months Duffy—full name Aimee Duffy—dumped the love rat.
Sad Mark recalled: "We got back together a couple of months later, in the summer of 2006, but it only lasted four months."
Their romance began in 2002 after the then 16-year-old Welsh wannabe marched into the music promoter's office with tracks she'd recorded.
She declared: "I'm not leaving until you've listened to them."
Mark remembers: "She took my breath away. Her voice, her looks, everything about her was just gorgeous."
Within weeks Mark offered her a slot at the Wakestock music festival he organises in the Welsh resort of Abersoch—and their passion for music spilled over into the bedroom. Mark helped develop her early career.
He was at her side when she came second in the 2003 Waw Ffactor, the Welsh language version of X Factor. Soon after, Duffy signed to record label giant A&M.
This year she became the first Welsh female to have a number one single in 25 years with Mercy. It followed her debut single Rockferry—also the title of her number one-selling album.
Duffy is still single and remembers Mark's antics differently. She said: "I already knew. He denied it for a year and a half, then he told me he wanted to marry me.
"So I said, ‘Tell me about some hidden secrets. If you really love me, you'll tell me.' And he did. He hurt me but didn't destroy me. I don't hold a grudge."
In fact the pair are still in touch. Duffy is due to appear at this year's Wakestock.
Mark, also still single, adds: "I wish her only the very best."
