Ashlee - Bittersweet World

Ashleee

OH BOY is squeaky clean pop princess Ashlee Simpson getting some FALL-OUT over her engagement to grunge boy Pete Wentz.

She's been getting DEATH THREATS and grimaces: "It's like I'm the most evil creature in the world."

Boyfriend Pete—songwriter and bassist with mega-selling band Fall Out Boy—proposed to the 23-year-old beauty last month.

And since then Ashlee—who shot to fame as the star of her own MTV reality series—has had loads of grief from Pete's hardcore emo fans.

"Most Fall Out Boy fans respect that I make Pete happy —but some just want to destroy me," says redhead Ashlee.

"I totally get that they might have thought I was some manufactured pop star airhead at first. But we've been together 18 months now. We're getting married—it's the real thing. I don't take the threats seriously, I just steer clear of reading what Fall Out Boy fans say in case I read another ‘that total bitch Simpson' comment."

Ashlee—whose own new album Bittersweet World is out in the UK this month—insists she and Pete, 28, won't have a glitzy wedding. "It's going to be small and intimate," she coos, flashing her understated engagement ring.

Shatters

But there's been nothing understated about her own rise to fame. Like her first two albums, Bittersweet World has already reached number one in the US. And her new single Outta My Head is released here next week.

It's an appropriate title —because Ashlee today shatters her clean-cut image by admitting she likes to get high with Pete.

"If I became President, the first thing I'd do would be to legalise cannabis shops like they have in Amsterdam," says Ashlee.

She refuses to comment on rumours that she's pregnant ("that's too personal") but Ashlee thinks she and Pete will be parents one day— and lenient ones at that.

She giggles: "I'll let my kids get away with as much as I got away with. Pete and I are out-there individuals. That's why I fell for him."

She likes bad boys—her song Rulebreaker was inspired by Hollywood hellraiser Christian Slater.

"I don't have a crush on Christian really," she laughs. "But it's his character in the film True Romance that's really hot.

"He's just such a bad boy. But Pete's like that too—and he's real!"
