Made of Honour

REMEMBER My Best Friend's Wedding? The producers of Made Of Honour hope you don't — because they've just rattled out a rom-com with the same chuffing story. 

Only difference is, they've swapped the male and female roles around.

Made Of Honour is about Tom (Patrick Dempsey), a guy who's trying to sabotage the wedding of his best friend/secret crush Hannah (Michelle Monaghan) while acting as her ‘maid' of honour.

Tom does his utmost to impress her, but love rival Colin (Kevin McKidd) outdoes him every step of the way.

Does Tom win Hannah back before she ties the knot with Col? That's a secret. But here's a clue—yes.

Big surprise. And yet? Total lack of originality aside, Made Of Honour is pretty likeable— largely thanks to Dempsey and McKidd, two men it's biologically impossible not to warm to.

In fact, Made Of Honour is a fair second option in what film distributors have clearly decided is Iron Man Week.

Plus those of us from north of the border will especially enjoy the big Scottish wedding scene, complete with caber tossing, 'grand councils', and burly, tartan-clad gingers.

A fine reminder that there really is no place like home.

And particularly not the place they filmed this shortbread-tin, sub-Brigadoon baloney.
