30 Days of Night
By Ian McCreath
A small town is besieged by binge drinking gangs intent on mindless violence.
Sounds like any town centre on a Friday night .
But this is Alaska- and they're binging on blood, not 'Breezers.'
Yes Vampires are back- only this time they're scary.
A gang of Vampires enjoy a trip to the artic circle, where their 30 day blood bender can go uninterrupted by sunlight.
Built around an idea so brilliantly simple its a wonder its never been done before, "30 days of Night" should have been an unmissable treat.
However the film struggles to maintain the promise of its premise, losing momentum after a genuinely unsettling start.
Owing much more to George A Romero than Count Dracula, this is still the best vampire film for a while.
Probably because it feels more like a zombie movie.

Offensive? Report comment30 Days of Night is possibly the scariest vampire movie of the year. Much better than 28 Weeks Later. Hope they make the second 30 Days of Night graphic novel, "Dark Days," into a film sequel. Fangstastic!
