Strictly week one: results

I’m not sure how I feel about the new system of the judges having the final say instead of us viewers. Shouldn’t we get to decide if we’ve spent the money calling in? Plus with Len having the casting vote it seems pointless the other judges voting. Mind you, I think he got it right this week.

Actually Brian looked rather relieved to be going home which is more than can be said for his partner and last year’s champ Karen. I wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere near those stilettos during their last dance!

Next week it’s the girls’ turn and I really do think this is going to be their year. They totally outshone the lads in the spectacular group dance. Letitia especially showed us what she’s got – almost literally in that mini dress a couple of times!

You don’t need to be Gok Wan to know that a 3ft long red bow on your hip won’t flatter even the most fabulous figure – and Tess HAS got a fabulous figure. I couldn’t decide what it made her look like – was it a Christmas cracker or a new type of Quality Street? Still, an improvement on last night’s duvet cover. My score: 5
