Wood you believe it?
LET'S be honest. Yarl's Wood is a detention centre - not a holiday camp.
So why is tax-payers' money being wasted on DVDs, satellite TV and choccy biccies for inmates?
The usual crowd of bearded do-gooders will blabber on about human rights and how we have a duty of care to everyone, even failed asylum seekers.
But let's get one thing straight - the majority of prisoners at Yarl's Wood are ILLEGAL immigrants.
They chose to break the rules when they came here, so treating them as "guests" and lobbying them to ensure they have free DVDs and unlimited custard creams is a disgusting waste of public funds. It's got nothing to do with human rights and it makes me angry.
Whoever it was at the Home Office that dreamed up this little howler deserves a kick in the ginger nuts. Tell me your views and we'll publish them below.
Do we just keep taking more and more asylum seekers until it bleeds this coutry dry. Oh and there are poor, very poor people in this country or do you live in an area were homeless people are swept off the streets in case it makes the area look bad. Stop being so short sighted and realise what is happening here.
A comment made earlier was spot on they come to this country demanding everything and then when they have it they start shouting hatred towards westerners.

Just because our government decided that detainees had no "good reason" to be allowed to live in our country (whereas all kinds of Europeans, Australians, New Zealanders don't need any kind of reason) doesn't make them criminals - what kind of country are we, to treat them as such.
I would love to see you and your family locked up after minding your own business and see how satisfied you would be with being shipped around the country randomly, deprived of your possessions, isolated from anyone you know.
Bet you would complain about more than the choice of biscuits, esp if you had a crap life, and had come from a totally horrific country elsewhere in the world.

When I think of the millions of refugees and displaced people who are being cared for in countries which are desperately poor themselves it makes me ashamed that a rich country like this cannot show some compassion to people who are locked up in detention here. We don't know if it is fair that they should be sent away but we do know how to be decent and respect other human beings. So I am glad that there is at least something being done for people trapped inside a detention centre. I am quite sure no one is happy to be there so the least we can do is provide conditions we would expect if we found ourselves in such a place.

It cracks me up reading people's views in favour of asylem seekers, you know who you are
The only people that are gonna be in favour of it all, from this country, are gonna be the foreigners themselves, using the internet which has proberly been provided for them by us tax payers money

I am only a young adult, but i can sympathize with taxpayers as to why we are paying for the asylum seekers's lavish lifestyle.
Not only are they not working themselves, they are taking our money and will not settle for seconde-best luxuries, which i regard as selfish.
I believe that the government has no bottle and will not change the situation, and they wonder why no1 likes them?

send the lot of them back to where they come from, i hate the fact they they come to britain and once they're here milk us for every penny , and then start shouting about hate the westerns

re carol & lolitha aug 21,
its not just this country that was responsible for slavery many other countrys like america, italy (romans) had slavery but do we hear people tut tutting them,i dont think so.
the trouble is that its trendy to knock the english and call them what you want but if we say anything about any other race well thats just not on is it. any disaster happens in this world and we are one of the first with our hands in our pocket and sending aid.
i am always proud to be english with our so called free speech and our rite to be equil but in this country know, you cant fly the union flag or you mite be called a racist and find youself in trouble with the authorities depending where you live.
try and tell the americans or french or even the indians to stop flying thier flag in thier own country i bet you will be sent away with a flea in your ear.well after all said,we are only english and that means anyone can take the **** and get away with it.

Most of these comments make me laugh. Like the reason you can't get a council house is cos of asylum seeking families - nothing to do with the Government 'Right to Buy' scheme which is selling off countless thousands of council houses but not building any new ones no?
Yeah much easier to just not think about it and blame the asylum seekers eh?
And as for that idiot David Davies who reckons that cos they get a choice of biscuits that Yarlswood is like the Ritz! Well, lets just say he fits in well with most of the fools here...
I of course understand that pensioners, the poor, those with sick families etc are hard done by here but it is not the fault of asylum seekers. We have always had immigrant communities in Britain (who, overall, actually benefit the British economy rather than being a drain on it).
What you should actually be complaining about is government policies which give tax breaks to the rich, allow bumbling NHS Fat Cats to get hundreds of thousands of pounds in bonuses
Start to open your eyes people and see where the real problem lies

well here we go again the bloody do gooders are here with their banners, oh we must do right by illegal immigrants!!! what at the expense of the pensioners who fought for this country and the hard working people who pay tax's and get bugger all, but i forgot we don't mean a damn to this country until its time to vote. Then we get all the oh we'll do this for you and we'll do that, what a waste of time, cause no party in this country has got the bravery to say enough is enough we want our country back.

Most of the comments here show little more than hatred and fear of foreigners. Face it, Britain has always been a mongrel nation and all the better for it. It's no use blaming our problems on a handful of people so desperate to escape the chaos of their own countries (chaos which the UK has often helped create, as in Afghanistan and Iraq) that they risk everything to come here only to end up treated like criminals. The enormous NHS budget is administered by an entirely separate govt department from the one which deals with immigrant issues and would not be affected in the least by any change in immigration policy. I work on an NHS ward serving the east end of Glasgow and from what I can see, the failures of the Health Service are caused by bad management, not by a small number of asylum seekers daring to ask not to be treated like animals and requesting a few packets of biscuits and some materials to help pass the time while they are locked up.
Every asylum seeker I've met has been desperate to find work but are not allowed to, so calling them 'scroungers' is hardly fair (never mind 'scum' and 'lowlife', words that stink of fascism). If you want to form a half-way intelligent opinion on these matters, try speaking to some of the people involved instead of getting all your information from sensation-mongering tabloids, stop blaming your problems on the most helpless individuals in the country and for any sake learn to spell.

I wrote to Tony Blair about all these people coming into our Country and being given everything while the likes of us who's families have worked and paid taxes all our lives get nothing.I have children who can't get homes because they have been told the local council have to keep them for asylum seekers. My Mother couldn't get a handrail fitted to her bath eventhough she was registered partial blind but the people next door to her had a whole bloody bathroom built by the council for someone who is supposed to live there and hey guess what DOESN'T. My Mother has just passed away on the 25th July and we were not allowed to have her ashes scattered in the sign of the cross in case we offended people who may visit the crematorium. WHO'S BLOODY COUNTRY IS THIS.

Having been one of over 100 employee's working at Yarls Wood recently made redundant by Serco I can assure all comments are true and really feel for staff left there as it is not a safe environment to work. It was the messiest redundancy anyone had ever seen. GSL should have kept the contract. Serco have not a clue how to run the centre or how to treat staff, now they are in a position with hardly any staff because the ones that are left, some have left and some will be leaving. They are giving in to detainee's demands to keep them sweet as it would not take much at this present time for them to lose control of the centre.

I cannot believe how much this country does for ILLEGAL immgrants. They are coming here and taking us for MUGS cos they know they can!!!!!!!
What about OAPS who are struggling? They have fought for this country and paid lots of their hard earned money into it and then these foreigners who havent paid a penny shout orders and they get away with it! They have put nothing into this country yet are reaping the rewards while the english citizens get nothing.
We are the laughing stock of the world! The foreigners are coming here and taking the ****!!!

I have been outraged reading your articles over the last two weeks about the Asylum Seekers!
In February 2007 my little boy who is 7 years old was diagnosed with a brain tumour. As they cannot operate and his treatment of chemotheraoy is over 18 months of which he has and will spend a lot of time in hospital I have had to give up my career to look after him. Due to our family income reducing from 53k per annum down to 19k we have been forced to sell our family home.
When we approached our local council AND our MP about trying to get a council property so we have a roof over our heads we were basically told that as we are selling our house we would be making ourselves intentionally homeless or if the council did help we would end up in a high rise block of flats!!!
Where is the justice in that - me and my husband have always worked hard to secure a nice environment for my children to grow up and and simply because my son is ill we lose everything and our government that we have paid taxes into for years and years won't help.
Becuase of this me and my husband have had to buy the cheapest house we could find in our area and have no money to refurbish it but at least we have a roof over our head. The government helps Asylum seekers move into a decent home yet why wont they help my son who is seriously ill??
This country has seriously gone to pot!!!!!!!

Hi, with regards to your comments on asylam seekers, many of them are in trouble with the law and are put in prison with a recomendation of deportation at the end of their sentance but this never happens, take the case of the Headmaster in west london who was stabbed to death we have now been told that the attacker will not be deported after his sentance, how must the family feel to be let down by this, also with regards to the houses being refreshed as we should put it in both Barking and Forest gate who actual lives in these houses immigrants who have not paid a penny in to this country while english people who are born in this country cannot even have a chance of one of these places be it Council or Housing association,
also what about the english people who have to take life saving medicine they have to pay for their medicine while immigrants and asylam seekers do not, we who ae born in this country are being let down by this government and also I suspect will be let down by other parties put into power, why cant we be like Australia & Canada who do not let just anybody in, I have just had a kidney transplant and while in there out of 30 odd beds only 4 of us were white while a majority of the others could not even speak english, what aload of rubbish about ethnic people not being able to have transplants,

When i was sitting on my break enjoying a non brand digestive a nearly choked!!
The problem we have in this country is the goverment is so scared of being branded with the horrible nasty R word, RACISM well i wish just for once they would stand up for the working public and say yanno what, you want dvd's and comfier beds and quieter cleaners well why dont we deport you and see how much better you have it in whichever country you come from, these people come over here and as soon as they claim asylum, so big suit from the DWP hands them a piece of paper which tells them exactly which benefits they can claim, it stinks, then the goverment states we dont have money for the nhs or new roads, Well heres your solution stand up and say "get them failed people out"
Posted by: C Redman | Aug 20, 2007 7:31:06 PM
I was absolutly furious when I read the report .it takes the biscuit .It is disgraceful that these people came here illegally yet get all the benefits .my 26 yr old daughter has worked since the age of 15 .she recently had an accident at work which caused her to have depression so she had to leave work .
this goverment did not care that my daughter and 4yr old grandson had no money for 16 weeks .she could not buy luxuries .she finally got a house after waiting 3 yrs but cannot afford to furnish it .she sleeps on a mattress on the floor .this goverment will do nothing to help its own people .our goverment hides behind the human rights act .but what about our rights .if you work hard you get nothing yet illegal immigrants come into this country get the best of everything .no other country would stand for this australia has the right idea
Posted by: sheila grainger | Aug 20, 2007 5:40:24 PM
i have just read all the comments and agree with most of them except those in favour of immigrants having all these luxuries, i know it may not seem much to have a few extra biccies but i know lots of pensioners who are still working just to pay their rent and exist let alone afford luxuries. i am 52, lived and worked in this country all my life and i am beginning to feel like a foreigner in my own country, one person said in their e mail that many british people have gone abroad to live, yes they have but they have had to work to stay abroad or come back to Britain because they do not get benefits to live on!
Posted by: BH | Aug 20, 2007 1:10:10 PM
I dont know why the government have to pay for this scum to be in this country, why not just put them back on a plane straight back to their own country and stop sponging off BRITISH TAX PAYERS.
This government has NO idea.
Whats happened to looking after our own first????
Let our patients have the drugs they NEED, which they would get if we were not paying for these asylum seekers!
Posted by: Robert Starr | Aug 20, 2007 1:04:44 PM
i have always worked for a living and also bringing up my two grandchildren due to their mother having problems with drugs,
i have never had any help from any government body. britain is now a dumping ground, what would i need to emigrate, a lot of money from what i can gather, we are letting elderly people die in dirty hospitals and these are people that fought in the war for us.
these so called asylum seekers come here and do nothing but complain, get the government to come to bristol,
a ex council estate called knowle west, the youngsters have noting to do, no youth club and the swimming baths have now closed, talk about charity starts at home, i cant wait to leave this country but i wont have no chance

britain is no longer great no more,
the country is slowly getting taken over by these "asylum seekers".
one day there will be no pure british person left! this country needs discipline, something it used to have. it makes me furious knowing my tax money is getting spent on this subject rather than the people who pay the tax!
i have not got any problem with race, colour, religion etc i just think that the govrnment needs to put their foot down and say no more!
the uk is on a slow downward spiral and can be stopped, so do so before its too late.

Why does everyone ignore the truth and Labour's continuous lies on Immigration.
Labour have NO INTENTION of curbing Immigration as to do so goes against one of their own CORE BELIEFS.
Quote from Labour's constitution "We believe in a nation-less world with the free movement of peoples."
That also explains their frequent attempts in recent years to ban the English flag and Englishness generally!
Come on Britain, wake up to the reality of Labour before England as a free nation ceases to exist.

All this rubbish about illegal immigration in the U.K.... Other countries DO NOT welcome immigrants that are not prepared to pull their weight and give allegiance to the host country as suggested by some of the bleeding hearts brigade.
When I moved abroad I had to work or starve,I had to pay social security befor any of my family could see a doctor, (apart from an emergency). This system works well in the country that I live in now,
It certenly stops the work shy in their tracks.
The U.K is run by BALL LESS BRAIN DEAD MPs
who are only interested in their own prosperity
There is only one political party that can save the U.K, But to vote for them you would be labled a rasist thug by the weak lefties who can only think of pacifying anyone at any cost who is ANTI U.K.
As an ex pat looking from the outside, I can only see a once great country being taken over slowly but surely by a few foreign factions
(with the help of the pacifists intent on changing its law and culture to benifit themselves while they bleed it dry. If that makes me rasist, then so be it.

We need to be like Australia and America,if you haven't the cash or a damn good reason to be there you don't get in.Illegals are turned back there and then on the first flight back,
NOT allowed to live free in a detention centre, till it's decided.I'm sick of my money going to help foreigners, when the NHS,schools, our pensioners, first time home buyers & so on....are being treated so badly.

I have three grown up children and they always earn there keeps and now in very good jobs well done to me for a single person and had it very hard to make ends meets in those yearsbut we made it.
Now all those people have to snap there fingers and they get what they want with our TAX PAYERS MONEY. If they were back in there country they would have to lived just like there folks do and make do with what they have.
It is time this country do like America let these people work for there keeps if not go back to there country, also this human right they are taking it a bit too far.
Wake up and stop wasting our hard earn money from us the Tax Payer and say no for once. So this is what I would like for once for all the years I have work-- A new bed. A nice dress and booked resturant for my 60th birthday in two months time
that is not much to ask for???? I do work for it.

the trouble is that most countrys on this planet think we owe them a living and like nothing but call us fit to burn, but when a dissaster happens were expected to put our already heavely taxed hands in our pockets and give to them.
well its about time we started to look after our own people and stop things happening like pensioners afraid to put the heating on because of the cost or buy basic foods.
yet what weve got is alot of parasites that claim assylum(which are mostly all young men) who get told what to claim for from government paid dogooders and soliciters who help them get legal aid but try and get that if your english.
the human rights bill is the key to the door to let solicitors rip the system off and let peadophiles, rapists and every piece of scum get in this country in the name of humanity.WHAT A LAUGH.

these peole aren't criminals. Just people who have tried to move to another country for whatever reason be it political or ecomonic. We live in a global economy and people should be able to move to wherever the work is. After all plenty of peple from this country move abroad to find a better life.
They have been denied their freedom which is more than people who have commited crimes get these days. And a few art supplies and biscuits are hardly luxuries.

Like most people of this great country i work very hard and this usually inclueds about 70 hours a week, (no matter what that arnold burton says).
But the truth is the BRITISH public is letting it happen. For once why dont we all make a stand and get something done. I for one would love to speak out instead of moaning in silence.
Sooner or later there will be a civil war as hard working people are sick and tired of being treated like dogs. If it wasn't for people like us paying taxes their would be no government, so as we pay the taxes we should have the say to where it is spent.

I do agree with the comments I have a son who was homeless for 2yrs he was so ill and had to spend all that time trying to get help.
He did go to hospital had 2 major opps and had tempory acc pushed from piller to post he now has a studio flat it had not been in good order and he had no furniture he has bills to pay with £89 pounds a week to live on and told he is not entiteled to any help we his fathers & for father payed taxes all their life .
so send them all home and give us a chance, I am a pensioner have to make ends meet. Brown get rid send them strait back charity begins at home.

It is a disgrace how british people get treated by the Powers that be.Don't matter what government party is in they are all the same.
Why dont they get together and make Britian a better place. Not only stopping Illegal imigrants but every foreigner unless they have a job to come to.
Why should we keep others thats put nothing into the system.I worked all my life sometimes being an unpaid carer and holding down two jobs until i was 56.
Health problems stopped me working. Now living in privately rented home as the council would only find my husband and myself a one bedroomed flat, which is most unsuitable for my husbands condition we have to pay extortionate rent, while the illegal immigrants get everything for nothing.
They also have the nerve to go round knocking on doors to see if you want any work doing to your homes while they are claiming everything from the state.
Wake up Mr Brown and show that you can do better than prime minsters before you. That goes for our own who are claiming any state benefits and paid nothing into the system.
I know of many. One i actually know brags that he retired at 25 and is now 46,he as two cars, caravan, four dogs, about ten holidays every year.
House like a palace.Working most days and claiming DLA and sick pay.As soon has illegal immigrants step into the country make it that once a week theres a plane waiting to send them back from where they came. How many pensioners can afford chocolate biscuits.

We live in a small house with a severly disabled little boy we have high heating costs and laundry costs because of him, we can't go on holiday because we can't afford somewhere suitable for him, his equipment is down right expensive and these bleeting hearts that run these places need a slap round the face and a bucket load of common sense tipped over them.
Try living in the real world.

£85million contract to run this facility is £85million too much, there should be no second thought about returning the detainees to where they once came, that £85 million could be better spent on defence, nhs, services etc instead were paying taxes to keep them in a nice cushy palace would we get the same treatment from another country if it were us heck i think not so why are we doing it? what a screwed up system we have.

Oh to be an Asylum Seeker. A real comfy home with all Mod/Cons and Chocci Biscuits. The demands are ludicrous. Even a hard working family are denied such luxuries. What an insult to the British people. Instead of Taxpayers monies being spent this way, spend it more wisely and employ more personnell to sort out their claims more quickly. That way they would not be in removal centres so long and be able to demand High living levels. RATTLED!!!!

as a former member of our great british forces (served 24and a half years ) i think that the goverment should adopt the attitude of if you don't pay into our system for the benifits then you don't get them. but having said that i left the army and walked into a reasonable job but after a few months was made redundant so i signed on what a laugh after siting in the job centre talking to one of our ethnic minority for nearly an hour and a half she promtly told me i wasn't entitled to any benefits as i had a service pension (which paid my mortgage) so what was i to live on with two small children to feed her reply was short of tuff mate now bugger off others are waiting.

i think this is an outrage, this country would be a lot better off if we got rid of all the immigrants,we cant afford to keep them, the nhs cant afford to give people vital medicines because they havent got the funds but we can spend millions keeping these people comfortable.adopt the attitude other countries do and stop taking them in....enough is enough
gordon brown please note your government has turned this country into a laughing stock

Well it sounds a great life in there. I'm getting under 50 quid for providing a minimum 35 hours care provision, no breaks, no holidays, no lie ins, precious little sleep and my 'wage' removed if I have the audacity to retire.
I'm one of 6 million unpaid Carers that are getting shafted by this government while helping save the country over £57 BILLION A YEAR!.
This is more proof that asylum seekers, ILLEGAL ONES AT THAT, are treated better than people that are slogging their guts out.

Its no good just complaining about the political madness on here. Do something about it! Vote for a political party which reflects your OWN view.
Its called Democracy. Your future and your children's future is in your own hands. Rid this country of the traitors in power at the earliest opportunity.

If they dont like what they get well tuff.
Its just cheek!
What is this country coming to. If Margret Facture were still in power she would striaght tell them were to go !

it is about time this government had the balls to stand up for the people of this country and say to the international community,we are going to look after the people of this country first and anybody who enters this country without proper reason will be returned to the last country they were in straight away and perhaps this will make the other countries think twice before letting them through to this country. illegal immigrants/assylum seekers should not have the automatic right to benefits etc
while the people in this country have to stuggle to get help when they need it, when they have been paying taxes all there working lives. icould go on but the politically correct brigade would have me in court for discrimination.

Well said Andrew Krynicki. Like you if I said what i really though it would never see the light of day. I am sick of living in a "democracry" where i am told what to think, what to say, what to like, what to accept, what to wear, why not to shave my head (and i ain't a skinhead, i am going bald :) ) because my views, opinions, even my shaved head may offend. Yet it is ok for immigrants to hate ue, condem homosexuality, British culture. it is beyond my comprehension that this is allowed and British people are made to feel like second rate citizens.
We must stop being frightened of expressing our views, stand up to these idiotic politicians and do-gooders before britain has not cultural identity left. After all if this happens we have allowed it to happen??
If this makes me a racist then so be it. i have rights to!!

Its time we gave them the same treatment as we would get if you entered there country illegally. dont think we would be given much choice of what type of things we wanted.
Politicians and Human rights groups live in cuckoo land..............thats a FACT

You could not possibly put into print what I feel about this story and indeed many others you print. But the saddest part of all, is that as a nation we stand by idle and let our stupid MP's get away with the total mis-use of our hard earned money. I like many other people, understand there's no such thing as a free lunch and tax's have to be paid. How ever we also expect those tax's to be spent on the things that matter to us all, education, hospitals, roads, etc for the benefit of all the people who have paid into the system. Our MP's should understand they only rule by consent. I am no lover of the french but they are prepared to take to the streets to object to there goverments actions, maybe it's time we got off our backsides and did the same.
One very angry tax payer.

To Arnold Burton:
What utter tosh..I would be prepared to pay a little more tax if it went to help the BRITISH. You are obviously one of the PC do gooders. How dare you call the UK workers lazy.
Get off your middle class high horse. Why don't you donate some money to the ILLEGAL immigrants. As for giving them something to do..,make them queue at the airports anf get them OUT NOW

DON'T WORRY WE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS IN BELGUIMBUT HERE IT IS DIFFERENT THEY GET TOO MUCH SOCIAL SECURETY MONEY WHEN YOU ARRIVE HERE IN BELGUIM YOU GET THE BEST HOUSING FREE FURNITURE AND CHILD SUPPORT MONEY IF THEY HAVE LET'S SAY 5 CHILDREN THEY GET MORE THAN 2.500EURO'S A MONTH YOU ARE RIGHT WHY WORK OLD PENSIONNERS GET ONLY 650 à MONTH IT'S EVERYWHERE THE SAME

How does one apply to be an illegal immigrant?
I`m 73 this month,I was born in Yorkshire worked all my life, mostly down the coal mines, served in the army seven years.
Paid all my dues and taxes.
I now live on less than £90 per week.
Where do I get the forms to sign up?
Do I have to have a hairy face?
Posted by: Arnold Burton | Aug 19, 2007 11:06:05 AM
Because of all the British people claiming benefits and a ageing population needing their pension,s funded;immigration legal or otherwise is going to be needed .Ive yet to hear one of your readers say they would be willing to pay more tax or work harder to pay for benefit,s/pension,s etc .Most business man I know want to sack there lazy uk workforce and replace them with foreign worker,s . as for illegal immigrant,s getting dvd,s and custard creams it,s cheaper to keep em occupied watching tv than getting them to do something worthwhile I,m afraid.
Posted by: Dave Morp | Aug 19, 2007 11:04:32 AM
virtually all immigrants that come here are for economic reasons,if they wanted a safe haven from being persecuted they would have to cross many helpful countries borders to get here, yes we should take some, but NOT for economic reasons

DEAR IAN ,
WHEN I READ "THAT TAKES THE BISCUIT " ON SUNDAY
I REALLY HAD TO THINK WHAT ON EARTH IS OUR GOVERMENT THINKING ABOUT.ESPECIALLY THE DONKEYS THAT ARE RUNNING THE CENTRE IN QUESTION.
WHAT HAPPEND TO THE IDEA OF THE GOVERMENT BEING TOUGH WITH THE ILLEGALS WHICH WE WERE ALL TOLD ABOUT ,NO NEED TO BE TOUGH "JUST SHIP THEM OUT BY AIR" AND SAVE A PACKET OF MONEY KEEPING THESE HAGERS ON .
THE MONEY WHICH HAS AND IS BEING SPENT ,SHOULD GO TO THE AREAS THAT AT THE MOMENT ARE STRUGGLERLING TO SERVICE THE BRITISH TAX PAYING PUBLIC AND ELDERLY CITERSINS
I THINK THAT THE GOVERMENT SHOULD BE SEEN TO BE HANDERLING THIS WITH A MATTER OF URGENCY.
AGAIN WE WOULD SURELY GET THE DO GOODERS SAYING IT IS POLITICALY INCORRECT TO HANDLE THE PEPOLE LIKE THIS ,THEY ARE SURE TO SY THIS AS IF THEY HAD NO ONE IN THIS DETENTION CENTRE THEY WOULD HAVE NO
INCOME FROM FIGHTING THERE CASE WITH LEGAL AID
REPAYMENTS.
ITS A JOKE GET RID OF THEM NOW !.
REGARDS PETER RICHARDSON

i think it is all wrong, the nhs dont get enough money, the armed forces are straecthed and need more money but here these lot are using britian as a luxury holiday resort. i think it stinks!the goverment need to sort out th priorities in this country

I agree with the above comments. This country is an absolute disgrace. My grandparents will be turning in their grave. I was unfortunate enough to find myself unemployed after redundnacy a few years back. I had to struglle for two months on £52 per week after having not had a day's unemployment in my life, I wasa then 35. I was treated like dirt by DWP staff, most of whom were immigrants and could hardly communicate in English.
Our pensioners are tretaed like dirt and given very little money to survive. Have the government and the bloody do gooders of this once great country forgot that the oldert generation are the ones that fought two world wars and made this country great by hard work, struggle, determination and effort. How dare these illegal immigrants make any demands. Give thembasic rations, after all if things are so bad were they came from it should still be an improvement.
This country would rather give handouts to these people and protect Muslim terorists than look after our elderly with the dignity and respect they deserve or people who genuinly find themselves unemployed.
No wonder this country is a laughing stock it is a disgrace and I for one am no longer proud to say I am British. Get these scroungers and hateful people out my bloody country NOW.

how come there is a limited amount of money for medicine, pensions, etc but when it comes to asylum or immigration there is a bottomless well. You never hear them (the bearded ones) say we'll have to stop asylum & immigration we've no money left. The people responsible for these decisions should be named and SACKED, but there again they are SACKLESS. TIME THIS MADNESS STOPPED. How dare this gov waste our money like this.

Britain is the laughing stock of the world - one message is being established in this country which is:- If you are born and raised in Britain, are law-abiding, work hard to pay your way, provide for your children without hand outs and struggle to survive then the Government and powers that be will continue to ride over you rough shod, they will despise you and bleed you dry of every last penny !
However, if you are an illegal immigrant or a law breaker, if you sponge of the state, refuse to work and request that our National flags, history and everything else British be wiped from this country then the Government welcome you with open arms. They will provide for your every whim without batting an eyelid.
And as for GUSHUNGO comments - well your entitled to them but quite frankly if that's your views - typical of so many that come to this country, bleed us dry, take all you can and then whinge about the history of Britain.

i work hard, live in a 1 bedroom flat with my 7 months pregnant fiancee.....we have little money to spend in todays society,so we sleep on an airbed on the floor because we can't afford a new bed (im not moaning, stiff upper lip and all that)...its sick and twisted how people who are not even meant to be here get better treatment than the people of the country who work hard to put food on the table and clothes their kids back.
Im getting married next week, nothing big just a registery office and a bar-b-q(if the weather holds out)so heres a list of what i want from the goverment,
1) new bed
2) fluffy towels
3) dvd player
4) someone to knock sense into the beuracrats!
I hope to get a least the last one....but i dont hold out much hope for ANY though

This country is known to have the largest number of its citizens all over the world for the past 500 years. You have taken everything from poor countries and those same poor people who are coming to the UK for the same reasons your kin and kith went to Australia, America, Africa and Asia you detain them. When this same treatment is given to your kin and kith outside the UK you cry foul.
For example Robert Mugabe kicked out British citizens out of his country and you cried the loudest. So what is special about this country that you do not want to share the stolen wealth with others? Remember nobody is an illegal migrant because history records that this country has exported more human beings than any other nation this side of heaven. Do you still remember when you exported criminals from your jails to Australia and the new world.
Posted by: GUSHUNGO | Aug 19, 2007 8:50:48 AM
What bothers me more is not those in the detention centres but the millions that arent.
Posted by: Hazy | Aug 19, 2007 7:18:50 AM
It's a disgrace that these illegals are given all these benefits. Our senior citizens do not get anything like this. These people came here illegaly, you try and do what they are doing anywhere else in the world and see how much sympathy you will get. Let's look after our own first and throw these low lifes out of the country without any help from the do-gooders or the army of solicitors lining their pockets going to court to defend them.
