Free movie on your phone

SAMSUNG are launching a phone in America with a free movie to watch on it.

They’ll initially feature the Mission Impossible trilogy, starring Tom Cruise, on microSD cards, with their Delve handsets.

Although the new deal is currently with US carrier Alltel, Samsung insiders say it will soon be extended to Europe.

The Korean giant is teaming with Paramount Digital Entertainment to package the films, and expects to add other titles soon.

With other makers and service providers bound to follow the move, it means mobile companies are now a potentially huge new network of movie distributors.

Although they are already successful in the music market, the only question is how many people will bother to watch a full-length movie on a tiny screen.

Larger touchscreens surely offer this market the most potential.
