Android angst

GOOGLE'S Android mobile phone internet service might not initially run as smoothly as the impressive demos (above) in Barcelona this week. The exciting competitor to Apple's iPhone service will cause an unpredictable demand on mobile phone networks, a website claims. Unlike Apple's iPhone web access, which deals with one provider and can predict usage fairly accurately, Android is expected to be available through all service providers and on several different phone platforms. So it will be harder for Vodafone, Orange, O2 and other phone operators to work out how much to expand their networks. If they invest too little on expanding it there's a risk of 'network busy' messages. If they invest too much they could end up wasting their money through lack of use.
