Thousands of prison staff could be at risk after their personnel records were lost in yet another Government data scandal.
Jack Straw was only informed of the blunder by the News of the World - but the Prison Service have known about the missing disk since July.
A computing firm working for the Ministry of Justice has confessed to the Prison Service to losing a portable hard-drive loaded with up to 5,000 staff details, including sensitive private information.
And it was missing for almost a YEAR before anyone realised.
Do you trust the Government to keep your details safe?

Offensive? Report commentThis is a prison service that demands its staff are open and honest.
Well its about time the Prison service practice what it preaches instead of covering this up.

Offensive? Report commentI an a ex contractor of EDS as a IT Engineer. I like to remain Anonymous. I did work in the HM Prisons without security clearence (which EDS never gave). and removed and replaced hard disks on pcs and laptops. There was no instructions on how to destroy data from old hard disks. The hard drives remained on site and i used to give them to the HM Prison staff of whose pc or laptops were being fixed to get disposed of.
