what a (new) false dawn for the boys in white! remember 5-1 against germany? what did you win after that? nowt.
paul
they played against no good defence! sorry
hi
Aj put a team of fifteen year olds if they are good enough you are never to young but half of these are to old. finished.
ppppp
england are about to get a serious blow in 2 days time when play Croatia...they lose 3-0 at least
Greyshakerman
I get the feeling that many fans still think we have world class players - we have not.
Capello must now realise what he has taken on having seen the technical limitations of most of our players at close hand. I fear Croatia will give us another footballing lesson in technique and movement.
When some call for Beckham's return to sling long crossfield balls towards the far side of the area it tells you that many fans have still not grasped the problem. That is that English players are exposed at international level as being unable to do the basics of pass and move and keeping the ball. I think Capello would love to change this but he won't be given the time. The FA said his appointment was a long term project but as we know the fans and particularly the media, will not accept that because many fans still think we should turn out world beaters and the media won't have patience, because that does not sell papers.
Here we go again.
hi
You keep saying its not Cappellos fault well he keeps pickin the same old players that have been failures for the past few years why worry though 6 million a year helps thanks.
hi
Downing out off hiis depth at this level Johson not a clew Beckham is usefull for the odd free kick and corner nothing else we only played the mighty Andorra not argentina.
David Watson
Same old, same old. Every time the international season starts the press big up England's chances way,way beyond the level of reality. We have good players,of course but as a team - for the last 30 years we have been COMPLETE OVERRATED RUBBISH. OK we invented the game - but its moved on. Reasons for Failure? 1. Money. Too much in salaries, too little in developing future talent. 2. Far too many foreign players in The Premiership. 3. The Blame Culture. When X is changed for Y - all will be well. Frankly, any random selection of our Olympic Squad would have performed better against Andorra than our National Team. 4. Pride. Outraged players maintain that they don't lack it. In my book, they simply don't have enough. if we have to recruit a non-English speaker to motivate the team there's something seriously, terminally wrong.
Tally
It's not Capello's fault that some of those highly paid footballers think more about going out clubbing or s****ing. He needs to start looking for players who want to play for England with pride and not because they play for some of the biggest teams in the Premiership. Sack John Terry as captain as well!
jonny valoni
I watched every game at Wembley in 1966 when England won.
this bunch of complete losers are a disgrace but just highlights football in England is about money not national pride or passion
Until we play more English kids in the Premier will any semblance of a decent side emerge
Just look at the real men that played in 1966 then compare the wimpy whiny bunch of overpaid underachieving freakoids that represent this one decent football nation.
Play the the U21 side as our national team please
PS pay Sentana that Irish bunch of greedy foreigners to watch the total crap called England? even I am not that stupid
Aj
The coach is playing young players. He played Walcot, Downing Johnson and Lescott. Do you really want a complete team under the age of 25? I don't think so. The fans have always wanted a couch with passion. Capello was giving it to Joe Cole even after he scored twice because the coach wants to win. More so than the players. Lets face it, the message is not getting through because the palyers are thick!
Angelo Lenarduzzi
Fabio Capello is and always will be one of the best managers in the world. Be patient, have faith, he will turn things around starting I believe from Wednesday. English players are very good if they play without fear, once they start winning the fear will go, trust me. I strongly believe England will do very well in South Africa. The Premier League is only good because of all the foreigners (players, managers, owners) without them it would be a very different game!
TJay
At least Beckham gives one hundred percent....He might be older now but still cuts it compared to some of the other rubbish and he still has the passion...Leave him in the squad!
Harry s.
Get some young blood in IF? we get to the next world cup we still goin to rely on Beckham nearly 36 James 40 Heskey 34 Neville 35 the list goes on Capello is the same as all the other managers no bottle.
Rich T
Don't know why you are all preaching about bringing Rooney out & he does nothing for England...Rooney should have been playing where Defoe was for a start, Capello will get more out of him right up front. His game has changed since the 2004 comp but he's just as good now as he was back then, he's just always put in the wrong position. NO WONDER he gets frustrated!! I would. Take beckham out I say, keep bentley, or lennon on the right and always use Joe Cole...problem is with the england manager(s), there's far too much change in the team!! need to have a consitent line up, that's how england will start winning. give me the job lol. cheers
mick Black
Completely agree with LIZ's commnents, why not play Milner and Agbonlahor ?? instead of plonkers like Rooney and Lampard. Croatia 3 England 1 ( if Owen plays ) !!
simon hayes
How do we change things? start looking at the championship for some players who run for 90 mins have a clear out, same old same old players that failed mclaren now they are failing again, have some guts// capello and clear out the deadwood. And then put in a 5 english players to start in the premier league rule before we all need to take a language course to talk to the players, What ever happened to come on albert, come on syd, now its come cucci, come abdul, come mohamed, lets get back to basics please........
Ali Gooner
England WILL NOT win anything in near future. Open your eyes, guys. Don't you see what this team's lack of? England needs a REAL striker! Rooney is NOT the answer!!! Nor for Manchester United neither for England. Blame him first, not Walcott or Capello.
Terri
I agree, too much money involved. There is a complete lack of passion within the England team, they should be proud to wear the 3 lions on their chests!
Dave
Blame it on Rooney. Whilst at Everton 2004 they finished 17th in the Prem. The year after he left 2005 Everton finished 4th in the league. What has he brought to England? Everyone hypes him so much. I think so much attention is paid to him the rest of the team gets shafted. Trust me get rid of Rooney and the team will be top class. Look at Everton with out him... Proof positive he brings down an entire team.
gugu
ashley cole pushes to far upfield and gets in downings way if you let downing play like he does for middlesbrough you would see a different player should drop ashley cole and play wayne bridge' bridge and downing link up a lot better on the left
Carl
I have got to agree with Judd. The premier league managers are ruining our chances as they do not want their top players putting in 110% for England. I understand they dont want their best players getting injured but we cant expect to win anything if our top players are being ruled by their club managers. England expect to much, I mean we are not even in the 10 top of FIFA's rankings so we cant be the world class team that England fans think we are.
TT
Capello?
More like Crapello!
Carole C
Got to say - I'm not surprised at the lack lustre performance. It was the same as all the rest since we were last in a major competition -carry on like this and it will be a while until we're in another.
I don't think we should slate players such as Beckham, Owen and Gerrard - atleast they know the meaning of the 3 lions as do the younger ones, Hart, Richards, Milner and Agbonlahor (just like their U21 coach). However, the pride of wearing the shirt seems to have bypassed a whole generation of over paid & over hyped players and the blame for picking such players lies with the England Manager.
Judd Williams
I think you should just lay off Capello. All England fans do is blame every manager that is in charge. Even if we had Fergison as manager it would not make a difference. Why?? Maybe we should look at the players or more to the point the premier league managers. For instance Gerrard is "injured" for both of Englands games but what a co-instance he will be fit to play Man U on Saturday. This is the real problem England have. Players would rather play for their club than their country and it is a constant war with premier league managers to allow players to play for their country!!
