The FA said his appointment was a long term project but as we know the fans and particularly the media, will not accept that because many fans still think we should turn out world beaters and the media won't have patience, because that does not sell papers.

We have good players,of course but as a team - for the last 30 years we have been COMPLETE OVERRATED RUBBISH. OK we invented the game - but its moved on. Reasons for Failure? 1. Money. Too much in salaries, too little in developing future talent. 2. Far too many foreign players in The Premiership. 3. The Blame Culture. When X is changed for Y - all will be well. Frankly, any random selection of our Olympic Squad would have performed better against Andorra than our National Team. 4. Pride. Outraged players maintain that they don't lack it. In my book, they simply don't have enough. if we have to recruit a non-English speaker to motivate the team there's something seriously,terminally wrong.
It's not Capello's fault that some of those highly paid footballers think more about going out clubbing or s****ing. He needs to start looking for players who want to play for England with pride and not because they play for some of the biggest teams in the Premiership. Sack John Terry as captain as well!

I have got to agree with Judd. The premier league managers are ruining our chances as they do not want their top players putting in 110% for England. I understand they dont want their best players getting injured but we cant expect to win anything if our top players are being ruled by their club managers. They must put a rule in where it should be 5 English players minimum playing at any one time in a league game.

Why is it Lampard always seems to be the scapegoat with fans? He actually led the midfield last night. Had a couple of shots. Was involved in both goals. Rarely gave the ball away. One England's better players on the night. I would still like to see him and Gerrard BOTH in centre midfield. I cannot recall a game when that happened? Normally Gerrard is on the left.
Rooney was non-existent in the first half, but improved in the second. Barry was nowhere to be seen and has probably shown what he really is. A flash in the pan. As for Downing, Capello clearly did not watch any of the tapes from England games when he played. He is totally useless and should never play for England again.
If Cappello was 'resting' players for the game on Wednesday, WHY?? Surely a manager would want his best team to play together as much as possible so they get to know how one another plays.

As long as the FA continue to appoint puppets then we will have to endure this dross. It seems that when a new England coach is hired there is renewed hope that maybe, just maybe he will pick the best players available. Stop putting blame on Capello - they players are primadonnas, overpaid and lazy.
Well, what a palava. I dont blame the manager, i blame our highly over-paid and rated players. We should be, in theory, be beating teams like andorra 5, 6, 7, 8 nil away from home. We wont qualify, if we dont, the F.A must seriously look at the state of our international game and how its affected by our policy of not clamping down on the Premiership and the foreign legion of players. They must put a rule in where it should be 5 English players minimum playing at any one time in a league game.
Or maybe we should give the U21's full international caps, they seem to have more passion about playing for England.

Why is it Lampard always seems to be the scapegoat with fans? He actually led the midfield last night. Had a couple of shots. Was involved in both goals. Rarely gave the ball away. One England's better players on the night. I would still like to see him and Gerrard BOTH in centre midfield. I cannot recall a game when that happened? Normally Gerrard is on the left.
Rooney was non-existent in the first half, but improved in the second. Barry was nowhere to be seen and has probably shown what he really is. A flash in the pan. As for Downing, Capello clearly did not watch any of the tapes from England games when he played. He is totally useless and should never play for England again.
If Cappello was 'resting' players for the game on Wednesday, WHY?? Surely a manager would want his best team to play together as much as possible so they get to know how one another plays.

As it finished last night except keep Beckham out and Lampard in. Ferdinand for Lescott. (Although he did very well).
Some are saying Brown should come back in for Johnson. Trouble with Brown he spends too much time in the top end of the pitch and not doing his job defending. That was why Beckham was so ineffective in previous games. He was too busy doing Brown's job.
I feel sorry for Capello, because he has inherited a bunch of clueless overpaid footballers who cant pass a ball, cant run with the ball, and cant shoot.
I fear that we are going to get a thrashing from Croatia, and then we are going to have to listen to all their excuses about being tired.

Its all wrong......Capello is just another mercinary, just like Sven. The people that really lay at fault here are the FA. Trevor Brooking and all his inadequate cronies should go. The other major problem is the Premierships fascination with money and foreigners. Don't be fooled into thinking the Premiership is the best league in the world, because it isn't, its just the richest and the most watched. We have to ask why counties like Germany can still turn out a world class international squad.....they cap the number of foriegners that can play in their domestic league (Which in turn keeps wages lower). As an Englishman abroad I can honestly say that the performance of the national team, in what is heralded as our national game, has become a worldwide embarassment. England, The FA, SkyTV, The Players and us fans as well, should all be ashamed that we let it get this bad. Its time for a complete rethink. I fear however that things have gone way too far. English international football is dead. The argument of "Club or Country" has well and truly been won by the Clubs. Money talks.
I read some comments on Fabio Capello but a bit of respect for a Champions League Winner.
I believe England has some good quality players but not wolrd best class players.We expect to win every match and be world cup winners but nowdays the football level for smaller countries has risen to a big level and are difficult to beat.
Blamming the players for luck of commitment to country is a big mistake. Everybody who puts on a English shirt is very proud to play for their country but perhaps we should realise that England are not as good as we think they are.

2.Capello is useful when he works with players 24/7 otherwise he is lost.
3.The fact that he used the rotation for captains,proved that he is still not very confident and wanted to offload serious crit with a useless gimmick.
4.Capello talks big; 'must be confident','technical and tactical situations' 'we should have scored more' and all that but he's not all that brilliant. Look at Giovanni Trapattoni who inspired a rather limited side to a much improved level.
5.Come 2010 and England's only success remains the 1966 triumph at home.

As long as the FA continue to appoint puppets then we will have to endure this dross. It seems that when a new England coach is hired there is renewed hope that maybe, just maybe he will pick the best players available. Yet every time he names his first team we see the same names as the previous coach. Capello drops Owen because he hasnt been playing much of late, yet he picks and plays Beckham....Beckham who cant even help his team win in the MLS, three months and counting since they last won. Lampard should only be allowed in the stadium as a fan because most fans could play just as well has he has in an England shirt. The current bunch of players has become too comfortable knowing that regardless of the performance they put in they will still be included in the next squad.
What England needs is a coach who will come in and have a major shake up. Younger players like bentley and Milner need to be given a chance to show that they either have it or not at the next level. trouble is as England fans we have become used to mediocrity.

i have been watching england home and away for the last 18 years like many other fans i have spent a fortune following the national team the last 6 years have been a joke money as taken over are players have lost the passion and am sorry to say most of the biggest fan club in the world have to we are the fans the uk press love to slate the same fans that spend thousands of pounds in countrys that rip us of but yet we still travel all we ask as fans is that the players with there £100.000 cars show some passion and give there all for 90 minutes players like ian wright terry butcher brian robson and yes david beckham did this. after the final whistle they would come and aplaud the fans win or loose the englands present players dont seem to care if they win ore loose or about the 1000s of fans who travel or thats the way it seems to us so yes again we boo are players and parts of the press slate us for it its about time these players woke up for all there money and big houses and huge egos they will never be world class they can flash there ch/L medals or prem/lea but what will they say when there son or daughter while watching the world cup final asks dady did you ever play in a world cup final no son comes the reply i like many other english players were over paid over rated but son i do have lots of money

Some of these players just aint bothered, they all get abt £50,000 and above every week in their clubs and they just look forced when playin for england... No manager will be ever good enough for england because its down to these players to perform, they are all in their clubs startin lineup so for them not to perform you know theres sumfink rong there.. I commented in the Times that England will scrape past Andorra and will get beaten if not hammered by Croatia. I still stand by that. We have the best league in the world but are we will never be a world force!! I feel for Capello because being an England manger is as bad as it gets. But for 6 million I would do it!!
