Rob,
Witnessing Gerrard in Istanbul playing 'right back' for part of the match and making, in particular, one incredible tackle made me think, on reflection ... you could be right ..........BUT is Lampard consistent enough for midfield...?
Philisophically.... in the context that 'we all dream of a team of Jamie Carraghers'...could Steven Gerrard take his current right back position at LFC... and as we traverse the next 3+ months and look to the Board room, we need harmony at Anfield...
One simple question to settle the Lampard/Gerrard debate;would Liverpool have won the champions League in Istanbul if Lampard had played instead of Gerrard? GET REAL. In any case,if Lampard is so great, why did Mourinho TWICE try to break the bank to secure Gerrard's services?. If Gerrard had signed for Chelsea the London press would have had him knighted by now, and any England manager wouldn't dare play him out of position to accommodate inferior colleagues.
Shep has lost his marbles! why would he want to play one of the worlds best central midfielders at right back? i think gerrard should play in central midfield with barry or hargreaves and lampard should play left back.....left back at stamford bridge.coming from a man utd fan myself i would hate to admit gerrard is one of the worlds best midfielders but he deserves to be in there. he brings much more to the team than lampards deflected goals
its obvious your a chelsea fan to say lampard played well in croatia it beggers belief that you think he is better than gerrard two thirds of the country would disagree with you it tells me you never played football before in your life and know nothing about the game, gerrard is the best midfielder in europe if not the world you pidgeon!
re Alan Curbishley.
As a season ticket holder I have to agree that Alan had lost the plot when it came to his team selection and his apparent inability to motivate his team to play for him. I sat at Spurs with 3000 supporters screaming for him to take Boa Morte off the pitch before he got sent off and he did nothing. But in defense of our fans he was just the tip of the iceberg.....our board seems incapable of telling the truth, the men who were involved in the distasteful episode of the fantastic tevez are still in positions of responsibility in our club and we are getting ripped off in terms of season tickets etc. West ham needs a manager who can inspire the fans and use the talent we have, but we appear to be going down the selling road once again. I just hope that Bilic can be persuaded to change his principles otherwise it will be more dark times ahead...and we still don't know the outcome of the arbitration!
MORNING ROB ,
about time he went !!!
the man is clueless , in every derpartment
i never seen football as bad as this at upton park .
he always brags on about player been inj , like it is something new to bellamy , dyer , parker he should have know that b4 he signed them cause every one else did !!
i hope we get bilic cause he will take no cr*p off this players( curbs had a big row with bellamy in the week coming up to the rovers game which curbs lost )
and bilic has tactics came can hhis team DURING the game if things ant working out , and his team play FOOTBALL not LONGBALL .
you colud see a long time ago the player never wanted to play for him , and the board done every thing they could to force him out
i hope after weds night the club get bilic (even let him do both jobs till jan ) cause i think he is the right man for the job
Get ashley and wise out let them indian billionairs take over and get keegan back hes a LEGEND sack the bored sack the bored sack the boredd KING KEVVVV in
The Bilic situation is more than just talk.....if West Ham go on a bad run then I'm afraid Curbs will go and Bilic is the manager the club have identified as the ideal replacement.
morning rob
as a west ham fan (season tk holder) , and like many want curbs to go .
and the person i want to take over is bilic and over the past month he has been link with us a lot
in today paper you say he is ready to quit the croatia job to take over at our place
so do you really think/know he will take over or is it just silly talk ?
would love to know your views
I'm trying to think of things that are more depressing than England. All I can come up with is a wet weekend in Wigan with Anne Widdicombe or toad-sexing with Alan Curbishley. Although after we get beat by Croatia, even that'll look appealing, especially to Alan.
Beckham sold his soul for pound notes years ago and is still doing it and he proved that further by going to America. If England use him for the world cup qualifications we will not get through. When he plays, the football is pedestrian but now it is time to move on. It,s not as if we don,t have the players. Its a joke. All he is thinking of is how much more money he can make from Beckham inc.
This is starting to get a bit boring.Every time England underachieve, guess who gets the blame?David Beckham ,of course. It has been the same ever since 1998,when he got that infamous red card, you would think he had commited mass murder judging from the press overreaction.Yet when Rooney got a red card in 2006,He managed to get off scott free,Ronaldo somehow got blamed for that.As for the recent friendly, can you ,hand on heart say that anyone in the England team came up smelling of roses? Besides,if Becks does get dropped, the press are going to have to find a new scapegoat for when England inevitably screw up again, are they not?
as someone who has to watch Beckham week in and week out here in LA i wholeheartedly agree with Shep. The problem is that the only reason he is playing football at all is to prolong his England career. he is only interested in England caps and brand Beckham. he has become something of an embarrassment.
His football skills have not only deteriated they are non-existent anymore.
England cannot move forward until the shed this unnecessary weight.
Beckham, in his prime, left us all wanting more and with his work rate became a very good player, but not great, aka Pele, Maradona, Cryuff etc. He did his bit for England, remember the Greece free kick?, and helped Man U to much glory. But playing in an sub-standard league, albeit for 130+millions who can blame him?, will not keep him at the top of his game. Guess Fergie knows when to let them go. Good-bye Beckham, I for one do not see you as a world diplomat and I am sick of the hype. But thanks for the footballing memories.

Too early in the season to judge what is on the cards
for Tottenham or any of the clubs, come to that. But letting a Manure fixated journo, getiing you all wound up is a shame.Next week it will some other teams turn, for some of his drivel. So hang in there and support your team, who ever it is,and leave Shep to his ManU love affair.
Spurs will never be near the top 4 if they continue to buy overated untried players they also need a midfiled general like Graham Roberts
what Damian Cockup is paid for i do not know we need another centre back and striker sell Berbatov and buy somebody not OWEN our sick from has enough work coming up
Yesterday's game proved that we definitely need to keep hold of Berbetov, if that is at all possible. Tottenham looked a completely different team when he came on. Why not start with him. And King, Dawson looked a bit dodgy to me. Always thought that selling Defoe was wrong - he's gonna come back and haunt us.
Carl : Are you serious ?.....Are you suggesting Spurs write of this season and wait until next season to challenge ?
Totally disagree .....Ramos had eight months last season to sort things his way, he has bought players, the team must produce sooner not later unless Tottenham want to be same old Spurs....again
NOT A SPURS FAN BUT DEFENCE LOOK ALL OVER THE PLACE YESTERDAY
AND THE GOALKEEPER LOOKED LOST
NOT BENTLEY BIGGEST FAN JUST LIKE BECKHAM GOOD AT ONE THING CROSSING (O YEAH FREE KICKS)
IF BERBA LEAVES I SEE SPURS REALLY FINDING IT HARD TO SCORE GOALS APART FROM BENT WHO THE HAVE ?
BENTLEY ? DONT THINK HE WILL GET U MANY
DOS SATOS ? I DONT THINK HE WILL MAKE IT IN THE PREM
MODRIC? WONDERFUL PLAYER BUT NOT A GOALSCORING MIDFILEDER
KEANE DEFOE BEBA SCORED SOMTHING LIKE 60 GOALS LAST SEASON FOR SPURS AND TO SELL THE 3 OF THEM IS CRAZY ..ONLY ONE LEFT AND I THINK HE WILL GO
I think that this season we can't judge Ramos Spurs team. As new players take a good part of a sesaon to settle in. While the team also needs to get used to the way Ramos wants them to play.
I am sure Ramos will want to add new players to the squard too.
So I really believe we should judge Ramos team next season.
You are spot on about the midfield and love the analogy .....I just wonder if Ramos is one of those managers who loses the plot when he has to buy and sell with bing money involved.....remember what happened with Gerry Francis at Spurs.
Leaving King on the bench was baffling especially as the Spurs defence looked all over the place ......the Berbatov situation should have been sorted out last month..it is now affecting Tottenham's season.Just look at his body language when he came on.
As you say the league really shapes up in Octoebr by which time I'm afraid Spurs could be out of contention.
Couldn't agree more.Despite all the activity over the years in the transfer market, the midfield against Boro didn't have a recognised ballwinner, hence the defeat. They need a hardman in midfield to provide balance in the team.Remember the old adage about "piano players and piano shifters."
Seems after yesterday, you do have a point. Why we left King, (is he ever going to be a regular again?) and Berba on the bench, I'll never know. Southgate is putting together a genuine, hard-working outfit up at the Riverside. But after splashing out millions again, and if we really do have aspirations to achieve great things, then we do need our heads out of the clouds and get serious. We should wait until October to really see how our season is going to shape up, but if we take that long to bed in new talent, then even top five will be a pipe dream. Hopefully we can do the business next week against Sunderland, otherwise Cup Team again. COYS!

Bobbi,
Bit harsh of Alan Curbishley ....the again.
Yep you are right ...more and people I know are losing faith about the England team

Lee,
It really is astonishing that Ramos believes Spurs can be better without strikers who scored 60 between them.
If the club felt they couldn't hold on to Keane and Berbatov then they should never have let Defoe go.
