Politics: News: Stamped on

House sales plunged 20% after the stamp duty dither.

Are you one of the thousands of buyers or sellers left in limbo?

Do you think the government should step in to revive the flat-lining housing market?

Is Gordon Brown the right man to see us through these difficult times?

We are going to complete at the end of this month, we may hold off until we find out. Come on Gordon, as PM you don't just go saying those sorts of things without backing them up.

No I am not one of those sellers left in limbo I will sell my house, at a price I accept, when a buyer decides they are comfortable with the deal and can pay. In the meantime I will wait & be patient. As for the Government becoming involved - how? by giving financial incentives away. Just remember the financial incentive is your tax money, collected by the Government to pay for other things not to give to high risk credit freeloaders. And by the way Gordon Brown isn't fit to run tap water never mind this country!

Fed up with being taken for a ride

Outside of the London catchment area stamp duty isn`t a major issue as for under 125k there are some very decent properties.
What`s killed the housing market is the end of 100% mortgages due to the credit crunch. If the 1st time buyers can`t afford to get on the first run of the housing ladder the market grinds to a halt- and that`s where we are now.

we are stuck as selling our home, and we don 't want to buy another home either, as we could save thousands. No one will buy ours yet either. This government needs to act fast and either drop stamp duty or leave as is. Do something and let us know.

The governments got loads of land - why doesn't it give off bits so we can all built houses. That'd be great.
