Thirty Seconds to Say My Goodbyes

Okay, folks, that's me done.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for all the comments. We don’t all agree with each other, but it wouldn’t be much of a show if we did, would it?

Rachel’s gone back to Wales, and I can go and have a nice long, snooze. Hey, it’s September already. Where did the summer go?

BB may have declining ratings, but all tv shows do now. There are more of them! Do the maths!

So what will become of the housemates? Will Darnell ever have a hit record? Will Dennis ever meet and make up with Mohamed? Will Mario and Lisa ever actually marry? I don’t know, and eventually I find I’m past caring. Mind you, I wish Lisa’d done this when he asked.

She might have won if she had.

One of the strange things I find about BB is that I completely lose interest in a housemate as soon as they are evicted. It’s like they were never actually there. It’s a bit different after the final, when there aren’t any housemates left anyway, but as the show progresses, as soon as they are evicted I pretty much forget about them.

I was pleased to learn that Steph was getting modeling contracts once she left, but only because I wanted her to get some reward from the show, but what that reward was didn’t matter. Seeing Dale and Mario falling out of nightclubs doesn’t work much for me either.

Once it’s over, it’s over. One of the mysteries of recent years is that they don’t show a highlights programme of the final day. Why not? I always found it the most moving and dramatic of the whole series. To be in there for 13 weeks and not to get the money. Must be hard.

But here’s a clip I always like, of the winner, finally, all alone in the house. Considering how long it was it’s startling for me that I don’t actually have to write "Warning: contains strong language" in front of it. Because it doesn’t.

WARNING: Contains repeated use of the phrase “Oh my gosh”.

And here’s another of a fan and his camera phone, among the crowd, right at the moment.

This time I do have to write it.

WARNING: Contains strong, and piercingly loud, language.

It wasn’t me, honest!

Until the next time…
